How about the prevalence (and benefits) of this technology in diesel vehicles?

Hello, I can tell you that the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) requirement for diesel vehicles with new registrations came into effect on December 1, 2005.
It is possible or likely that vehicles with diesel-specific OBD systems are already available on the market.
You can identify them by the key number 5 on the letter or certificate, where it will state: '14 for diesel engines with OBD' or '15 for diesel direct injection engines with OBD.'
For all vehicles where this is indicated, you can use the diagnostic options available through the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) system.
If it simply says '02' for diesel or '22' for diesel direct injection, you won't be able to determine which one it is because these models are not OBD-compatible.
