Now it's happened to me for the second time - one of the...
Plastic clips on the window regulator mechanism.
Driver's side door is broken - of course, during snowfall and freezing temperatures.
'We're already at 90 degrees and still have 60 kilometers to go.' It happened for the first time in the...
February, two years ago, on the passenger-side door. It's natural.
Sure, that flimsy plastic part becomes brittle in this cold.
is being. A real piece of junk, the whole thing is way too...
poorly designed. I had a problem with the passenger-side door two years ago.
I haven't felt like replacing an entire door frame for years.
bought them and installed both plastic brackets using a...
3mm drill bit and 0.8mm stainless steel wire secured - holds.
since then. I've always wanted to have that on the driver's side door as well.
I knew I should have applied it, but I was too lazy - now I'm paying the price.
(brrrr - it's so cold!) I've now treated the driver's side door with...
same method restored - works fine - sometimes.
See how long! icon_evil.gif

Meanwhile, VW offers a repair kit specifically for this issue, which should resolve the problems.

Hello Julian,

I've heard about that too, but I think that...
My solution is cheaper and more durable.

Two years ago, I met someone through eBay who brought me a U.S. replica set from America. It's made of solid metal.
It only cost 40 euros instead of almost 80 for this cheap, German-made plastic stuff.

Now, is it already available in a metal finish in Germany?!

What does this sentence include?

I have also already repaired the window lifter on the passenger side because the completely nonsensical design (component weakening due to holes drilled in the most stressed area icon_evil.gif) plastic component broke.

I then bought two new adapters (one as a spare, because there are still three potential weak points in the system!), and paid about 2.50 EUR for them.
It was quite a fiddly process to install the attachment and, especially, to clip it back into the nipple of the cable winch, but it worked perfectly.

Result: Approximately €2.50 in component costs and about 1.5 hours of labor time.

The prices mentioned here seem extremely high to me!

Regards,
Alex.

Hey Alex, I remember the VW share price being around ~10 euros. The other prices likely refer to complete door interior components for the window regulator mechanism.

I bought a set of those a while ago. The gears are made of aluminum. At the time, a set cost about 8 euros. But there was probably another error in the system. Now they cost about 35 euros.

This includes 2 mounting brackets and a new Bowden cable with a mechanism for easy installation.

Okay, in my case, it also included the complete cable system with mechanics, but the metal wasn't aluminum; it was something heavier. Either steel or a cast part.
