Hello,
Does anyone know if it's possible to identify TDI control units 028 906 021... by the number or, more specifically, the ending characters to match them to different engines and vehicles? VW/Audi says that a control unit only fits in one car, but there must also be Audi units that fit in a Golf or other vehicles. Of course, this would only be possible if the engines are comparable, and a control unit from an AFN engine would not fit in a 1Z or AHU engine, that would be clear.
Best regards,

So, he should speak more concretely icon_smile.gif

I have a 1Z with AF Stg,

However, for all 1Z and AHU, there is only the GG remaining, which then needs to be coded, specifying which STG it should replace.

As stated in the VW repair manual, which VW should also read.

A colleague with AHU has already implemented the GG (General Terms and Conditions) in the standard version.

hello,

I experimented with my Passat 3.5i (MKB 1Z). The original was a 028 906 021 B. I then replaced it with a 028 906 021 FB, which I believe came from a Vento or Golf. The car still worked. Maybe just a little bit weaker, but otherwise no difference. I also tried it with a STG from a Golf (I don't know the number anymore). Same result. The only modifications I made were to remove a few connectors on the harness.

Hello,
'I'll get more specific here. The MAF sensor for the intake manifold pressure in my wife's Golf with an AFN engine, which was initially functioning sporadically, later started malfunctioning frequently (as diagnosed by the mechanic). It turned out that the expensive replacement part from VW for the discontinued GH engine was actually a JG. Another mechanic, according to VW, said that it wouldn't fit in the Golf. A local independent mechanic had a used (not cheap) CE MAF sensor from an Audi with an AFN engine and said it could fit, which it did.'
I have a 1Z-engine golf cart and an AF device, and I would like to know which device would be compatible with it.
It's possible that there are lists available online that show which devices are compatible with each other and which vehicles they fit into. I haven't been able to find anything like that so far.
