Hello fellow diesel enthusiasts,

I cleaned my K&N air filter yesterday.

Once he was dry, I picked him up and held him up to the light.
My aquarium has many small spots where the light shines directly through.

I avoided using the words 'holes' or 'gaps' because I'm not sure if...
There, the filter material is so thin.

Now, the question for you...

Do your filters look like this too?
Has anyone ever thought about that?

Thank you.

Best regards from Lake Constance.

Hi.

While I'm not a fan of "sports" filters, to clarify the issue, I would suggest putting a pin on a few of the brighter areas.

If she fails to get in, or even fails completely icon_lol.gif, I'll know.

Hey, I noticed the exact same thing, but my K&N filter was brand new; I had just taken it out of the sealed packaging.

Of course, I immediately complained about it or asked the dealer, who said that it was normal.

After about half a tank of fuel, I wiped the inside of the air filter housing with a white cloth, and there was nothing on it, absolutely nothing. But I also wiped it down before installing it, and the cloth was already gray with dirt. The original filter had been in there for a while longer.

That seems normal, at least with K&N. And there's even a warranty on the engine included!

Hello,

"I can't see through my filter element!! I used to have one like this, and I got it replaced without any problems (but that was 10 years ago!!!)"

Best regards, Bertil.

Hi everyone,

I examined the filter under the microscope this morning.

I took a closer look at the positions.

So, there are neither gaps nor holes! (At least, not in my LF.)

I could clearly distinguish a tissue structure.

Thank you for your quick responses, nonetheless.

Greetings from Lake Constance.
