Hello,
I just want to know if TDI engines from the 4er can also fit into the 3er. What about the gearbox bell housing, does the mounting fit? The engine suspension isn't really a major issue.
Greetings,

How do you come to that conclusion?
It's completely different on G4. And since the TDIs in the G4 start with 038 and in the G3 with 028, the blocks will also be different and not have the corresponding consoles - or not???

Hello!
I have to agree with Dieselmartin. I read an article in the March issue of VW-Scene, where someone had installed a 110kW PD engine in an AFN Golf. The conclusion of the conversion was that the engine mounts soon caused the project to fail, as the engine was costing so much money. I haven't had a chance to look at it myself yet, but I think there are really significant differences, and changes to the block will make it impossible to assemble the old engine mounts.
Greetings,
Dominique |

The Polo SDI (AKU) was installed in both the older, stationary version and the new, hanging (on the dome, right-hand side) version.
But with the G3-G4 engines, the entire engine range was changed with this model.
Sorry,

If the engine mounting system is really so difficult and different, then I'll just keep looking for a 1Z or AFN block for my Passat. Unfortunately, the supply of used engines is already quite outdated, meaning that the parts have been used for many miles. I was thinking about re-wiring the suspension, just like I did with my T3 with TDI 1Z, but it was probably pretty straightforward because of all the space!
Thank you all very much for your responses, and if anyone has a recommendation for where I can get a good machine cheaply, I would appreciate it!
Greetings,
Thomas |

The JX in the T3 has "roughly" the same suspension as the 1Z.
At least, there are all sorts of parts available to buy for 1Z conversions (e.g., additional brackets to use the hydraulic bearings, etc.).

But the engine mount itself is still the same, at least for the first TDI engines in the Golf 4, as far as I know. While the suspension is different in at least one place, the holes for the Golf 3 engine mount would still be there. It was said like that just recently. VW Golf III TDI Avenue, MKB 1Z, EZ96
VW Passat 3B Variant Highline, MKB AEB, EZ98, LPG
Opel Vectra C SW First Edition, MKB Z19DTH, EZ05
Aktuell: Ford Ranger 3,2l, Automatik, MKB SAFA, EZ 2014

In the G3, there were 1Z, AHU, ALE, and AFN.
And, as far as I know, they weren't available in G4.
In the G4, ALL TDI engines start with 038, while in the G3, they start with 028.
I don't know if some of the holes are the same, but it sounds like there are different engines. Furthermore, all the planting components have been changed:
- Air filter - LLK mirrored
- ESP failed
....

So, wer die Suchfunktion verwendet, findet in meinem "Monster-Artikel" die Beschreibungen der Änderungen am Motorblock.
/viewtopic.php?t=4856
at the very bottom of the diesel section.
Starting with the Golf 4, the 827 diesel engine block no longer has an intermediate shaft, so the block has been fundamentally changed. It is also likely that several attachment points were changed without any problems.
If I am comparing my 1Z with the AXR, I can only find a few mounting points on the block that are 100% identical. The gearbox is likely the exceptional case. Gruß Bertil

@Kussi
Question:
Do you have a TDI? Right? Have you considered either rebuilding the engine yourself or sending it to a specialist for overhaul? It doesn't really cost a fortune in the end, especially if you rebuild the engine yourself and deliver the parts individually, as the final result is essentially a new engine. As long as the turbo isn't leaking oil and the shaft doesn't have any noticeable play, you can safely keep it, perhaps even replace the pump with a Bosch one. Just the cost... I have no idea, maybe Gremlin or Bertil know.
Greetings,
Dominique |

Hi Dominique,
so, wenn ich das alles richtig verstanden habe, mit den engine repair technicians over the phone,
Costs the overhaul, even if done by yourself, approximately 1300 euros, just the block. And in return, I get a complete machine with everything included, and I don't have to worry about making a mistake during the assembly of the head.
'Never change a running system!' scheint mir sinnvoll, und der gebrauchte Motor wäre sinnvoller, auch wenn ich natürlich nicht sehen kann, wie lange die Maschine gelaufen ist, da es keinen Drehzahlmesser gibt, außer vielleicht dem Lager, den Laufbahnen oder am besten der Ölpumpe.
Okay, so if you know someone who works really affordably and well, please contact me.
Greetings,
Thomas
