Hi.
I have always been firmly convinced that the change of engines from the Golf 3 to the Golf 4 (and thus from part numbers starting with "028" to those starting with "038") fundamentally represented a change in suspension type.
In the G3, the motors are "mounted" on the bearings.
In the G4 area, they are "hanging" (the mounting, especially on the right dome, is particularly noticeable).
The ASV is definitely a 038 engine and is installed in the Seat Ibiza 6K GP01, as I saw today.
Basically, the storage is the same as in the G3 model. The question remains whether the same parts were used.
That would then mean that (at least the ASV) has suspension systems suitable for G3 standards in all its drill rigs (in addition to those meeting G4 standards).
This would significantly simplify the process of upgrading a G3 engine to a G4 engine.
Okay, I've lost it now.
I'm sorry for having preached the opposite before.

Hi,
I should have posted a picture earlier... I hadn't noticed it before because I haven't worked with a G3 model yet.
Parts from the 6K GP01 are likely to be interesting for various modification projects because it essentially sits between generations.
As a facelift of the 6K model, it is technically largely identical to the 6K, which was produced since 1993. Its design is a mix of the Golf 3 and the Polo 6N (although in this case, the relationship is reversed, as the Polo came later). Some parts are even from the Golf 2.
Technically, it uses the engine from the Golf 4 generation, specifically the ALH and ASV TDI engines. This leads to the already-discussed, somewhat absurd intercooler ducting, where the pipes cross because the engine, being a "038" type, receives air from the right (in the direction of travel), while the intercooler is located on the left.

Sure.
The Ibiza ASV is the only one that should NOT be driven without a cover.
Because the two front screws not only hold the cover in place (as with all other TDI engines), but also secure the intercooler pressure pipe to the intake manifold. And without those cover screws, it's only held in place by the manifold and the intercooler.

Hi,
If I remember correctly, it depends on how you remove the cover.
If you remove the bolts, then exactly what you said happens. If you only loosen the nuts that hold the cover in place, nothing happens because the pipe is held in position by the bolt. The problem is that it's difficult to control which of the fittings will come loose...
You can screw the bolt back in if the cover is removed; it should work then (although I haven't tried that, and it's been a while since I took the cover off).

You are right.
The plan is for the mother to dissolve in the AB solution.
But generally, the fitting comes out along with it (that's how it was with all the covers I've dealt with so far).
Yesterday, we spent several hours trying to remove a screw that was stuck .
But ultimately, she had to give in (and we were snowed in ).
