Hello.
Can anyone help me?
Problem: The speedometer is not working, and the fuel gauge is malfunctioning. It seems to be affected by the movement of the fuel in the tank (showing too much fuel when accelerating and almost zero when braking).
It has already been checked.
Error memory in combination instrument panels? No error?
Engine fault memory? No error? The measurement block also only shows 0 km/h.
Error memory for automatic transmission? No signal from the G-38 speed sensor.
"What's deleted is gone forever? It's possible that someone here wanted to try something out and simply disconnected the device for a short time."
Cables in the engine compartment, checking for breaks and small rodents? No results found.
Car: Audi A3, year 1998, 1.8T engine (not a TDI), with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
I suspect the speed sensor is the issue, the one for the speedometer. But where is it located, and how can I best access it? Also, why is the fuel gauge behaving strangely?
Sure, here's the translation:
"Thank you in advance for any help."
Best regards to everyone.

If I remember correctly from one of the recent posts, this must be due to the so-called 'comfort function.'
Try searching for it.
Best regards, D. |

Hello D.
Sure, thanks for the quick reply.
but what do you mean by "must this be due to the so-called "comfort function"?"
Are you referring to something like the speedometer malfunctioning, or how the fuel gauge is behaving?
I couldn't find anything useful under the "comfort features" section.
Regards,
Voss. |

Perhaps the damping effect only starts to work above a certain speed.
And because of the faulty speedometer sensor, the instrument cluster doesn't receive the V signal. |
