Hi everyone!
My Golf 3 TDI (MK 1Z) has a registered power output of 115 hp (but measured 125 hp on a dynamometer according to a previous inspection), achieved through modified turbocharger boost and engine control unit tuning by Wendland Motorsport.
Are there any other ways to increase performance? Different lubricants or anything else? I've also heard about other injectors. Would that be a possibility?
However, it shouldn't be anything that significantly reduces the engine's lifespan.
Sure, no problem.
Best regards,
Pred

If your 1Z really has 125 horsepower, I wouldn't do anything else, other than hope it lasts.
That's a good 38% increase in performance.
If you don't have a garage full of engines and transmissions, then just leave it alone.

What else do you plan to do to the 1Z?
I would rather leave it as it is. Getting more power would be too risky due to wear and tear, etc., as it would likely overheat. I completely agree with everything my predecessor said!

These are likely two statements that definitely contradict each other.
Every modification made to enhance performance shortens the lifespan of an engine (to varying degrees).
In my opinion, for the 1Z engine, anything above 120 horsepower is "significantly life-shortening" . Gruß Bertil

Why me? That was the previous owner.
And I don't think Wendland is doing anything shady. They're not just any company; they're one of the most, if not *the* most, reputable tuners (specifically for diesel engines).
But then I'll just let it go, if anything else would stress him out too much...
Thank you for the quick responses.
Best regards,
Pred

No one said that the tuner did anything wrong. The tuner simply does what the customer asks of them. If the customer wants unreasonable horsepower figures and it's feasible, then the customer will certainly get it, because they're threatening to pay.
or should this now be/become hidden advertising?

Yes, of course, they pay me money for me to advertise for them!
Okay, seriously, this shouldn't be seen as either an advertisement or an endorsement of Wendland. I don't even know them personally. However, they already state on their website that the engines can have approximately 120 horsepower after the tuning. And since there are also 'natural' fluctuations in performance there, 125 horsepower is basically within the range, or not far from what Wendland claims. Therefore, I assume the customer didn't insist on having a super-tuned car, regardless of how long it runs!

The only thing you can do is install larger injectors, either from an AFN engine or even a size larger. However, you'll need to have the engine control unit (ECU) re-tuned because the car will produce excessive smoke. With the AFN injectors, you might get around 140 horsepower, and with the injectors from the 150 horsepower T4, you could potentially reach a solid 150 horsepower. The question is, of course, how long will it all last. My 1Z engine also has 120 horsepower, and I'm probably going to install the AFN injectors because chip tuning with the installation of larger injectors is gentler on the engine than just chip tuning (assuming the same power output). Check here; you'll find everything your heart desires http://shop.dieselschrauber.de/index.php/cPath/35.

If you can wait just under two weeks.
I am selling my AFN injectors with an approximate mileage of 85,000 km. These will be replaced by the 216 injectors from a T4. I will also have the injectors tested and checked before selling them. But I think they are still good; the engine has approximately 160 hp and no black smoke. } B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

The only thing you can do is install larger injectors from an AFN engine, or even a size larger than that.
However, you should also increase the boost pressure. But be aware that the turbocharger will already be running very close to its maximum performance, and there's no room for error.
