Hello everyone,

A representative from ARBÖ read the following error code from my CT device:
(Passat 35i B4, manufactured in 1996) I was also able to retrieve the code from the climate control display.

031c - Temperature sensor for blower air.

Where is this part located, somewhere after the blower fan?

Or could the interior temperature sensor located to the left of the radio be what's being referred to?

The problem is as follows, and it doesn't always occur (so perhaps there's a loose connection at the sensor).

Especially when the AC is supposed to be cooling, only a slight puff of air comes out of the vents, and you have to manually lower the temperature setting quite a bit for it to actually cool down or for the fan to blow properly.

The basic heating and cooling functions are working fine; the refrigerant was just refilled... so it must be that darn sensor!

Who knows the answer? icon_confused.gif

'Hmm, that's probably the matchstick-like sensor in front of the damper flap. I should take a look and see what's wrong with it. Can you also provide a reading from that same sensor? If the sensor is defective, I have a complete blower unit from a Climatronic system at home; I could remove the sensor from that for you.'

Best regards, WarLord.

Hello,

Unfortunately, I don't have any measurement data. Today, I was working on a VW vehicle, and the mechanic said it could only be this sensor that you mentioned, or there might also be a similar sensor inside the control unit for the blower motor. According to the diagram, this control unit is located slightly to the left of the blower fan in the blower housing.

I'll probably have a Volkswagen technician check it out soon to get a precise diagnosis of the problem.
(The sensor costs €18; the control unit costs €92.)

Sure, thanks for now!

The blower control unit is essentially just a power driver. It's not really a sophisticated control unit. However, I definitely have one of those things as well (it's the red one on the blower housing).

Best regards, WarLord.
