Good evening.

Now I've picked up my Arosa with the new AMF engine, and when I got home, I realized that a hose wasn't properly connected.

Can someone tell me where this hose is supposed to go?
Will driving without this hose cause any damage to the engine?

Or is it just a vent hose?

Here are some photos:

Three of these hoses are attached to the back of the engine and run downwards. One of the hoses was just hanging there loosely!

Hi,

The principle should be the same:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
Unfortunately, the picture doesn't show what's connected to the hose or where it leads.

Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, I just quickly took a picture of where the hose comes from.

Three hoses extend from this silver part (is this a solenoid valve?).

One is attached at the top, one is attached on the side, and one is attached at the bottom.

The one that is attached is the one that is not connected on the other side.

Isn't that the hose that connects to the air filter housing? icon_sad.gif

Check if anyone is already working on it. icon_wink.gif

I already checked that, but someone else is already working on it!

Hi,

Actually, there should be two of them... one for the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system, and one for the boost pressure regulation (I suspect that's also necessary for turbochargers with a wastegate).

Where...?

The hoses are there to transmit the ambient pressure to the control valve, and because of the vacuum control system, they are connected to the air filter housing to prevent dirt from being sucked in.

Now, the AMF has a wastegate turbocharger, and its boost is regulated by the wastegate. Therefore, nothing can be drawn in, so it could also be connected to a ventilation system, because air is expelled, not drawn in.

"However, that's a completely different issue; I was dealing with a TDI that had a wastegate. Does anyone know where the ambient pressure hose for the turbocharger control valve ends?"

If my theory is correct, then it's okay that it just ends like that (although it should be secured). And it's important that it's actually coming from the wastegate control, and not from the EGR (vacuum) system.

Best regards,

Jan.

hi!
Okay, so one of those air intake hoses, as I said, goes to the air filter (based on its shape, that's probably the one you're holding!). And the other one connects to the crankcase ventilation system. That's where the fake heating element for the crankcase ventilation is located...
If necessary, I'll take a picture of my AMF tomorrow.

Hi Dirk,
wäre super wenn du mal ein paar Fotos von Deinem Motorraum machen und mir per email schicken könntest. [email protected]

I went to Seat this morning, and the mechanic didn't immediately know where the hose goes. It's actually quite sad.
Okay, I'll try another vendor during my lunch break!

@snowfun
Hello,
According to the plan I have, the three outgoing connections are laid out as follows:
1. Upper connection (next to the plug): connects to the intake manifold in front of the turbocharger.
2. Connection at the bottom, extending to the side: connected via a check valve to the vacuum supply.
3. Connection, starting from the bottom: to the turbocharger.
Bye.
Max.

Sorry,
Sure, here's the translation:

'It should say 'natural aspiration' before 'engine' and not before 'turbocharger'.'

Hi,

3. Connection, starting from the bottom: to the turbocharger.

Are you sure that's the manual for the AMF? It has a wastegate turbocharger, and as far as I know, all of those are controlled by overpressure.

Best regards,

Jan.

To finally put an end to all the guessing:
Brezelmann had given the most "correct" answer so far. However, the hose that goes to the air filter is from the AGR valve. The one from the N75 valve (which is the one affecting Snowfun) goes to the fake "heating element." Unfortunately, I haven't been able to successfully explain to Snowfun how to find the location (despite providing a photo of the connector for the "heating element"). You can actually feel the connection point for the hose, but you can't see it because the connection faces the engine.
In that case, a more detailed explanation from him would probably still be appreciated.
I also mentioned that the spot is slightly above the connector and that some oil might be leaking out. Honestly, I don't know how else to describe it. Taking a picture of the connection itself is difficult because the hose is too stiff to rotate it that much.

Regards,

Olaf.

P.S.
"The hose in question sometimes comes loose on its own... It's happened to me before. I actually found the right spot pretty quickly. So, it can't be that difficult. Perhaps the connector is missing from Snowfun for some inexplicable reason (ATU was also notoriously difficult to find the right spot... And I usually don't assume it's due to the blindness of multiple people right away)."

The hose is reattached. It connects to the crankcase ventilation system.

Thanks also to 'brezelmann01' for the photos and to Olaf for his support.

A staff member at ATU definitely attached the hose to my car earlier.
Now I know where the connection is.
