Hello everyone,
Since my Audi already has 170,000 kilometers on it, and the turbocharger as well, I would like to replace it. Now, I might be able to get a used turbocharger with only 20,000 kilometers on it.
However, my current old loader has the following number: 028145701D, and the new one has 028145701T. What is the difference?
Ich hatte schonmal im AKTE nachgeschaut, da ist der Lader ...T erst ab 94 verbaut. Und dort steht noch für Schaltgetriebe und Automatik. Could that be possible?
'Have you looked into this in detail before? Can I also use this charger?'
Vehicle:
Audi 80 B4.
1Z 90hp TDI.
Year of manufacture: 12/93.

Hi,
I don't have an answer to your question, but is the old loader broken?

NEVER MODIFY A RUNNING SYSTEM!!!!!!
'If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Anything else isn't good! I drove my 1Z for over 240,000 km, and the turbo is still in top condition.'

Yes.
The old loader is faulty, with 0.5mm axial play. It's making a loud whistling noise.

Hello.
I recently connected a boost pressure gauge. I noticed that the boost pressure builds up to about 1 bar from 2000 RPM. At 2600 RPM, it suddenly drops to 0.6 bar for a very short time, and then quickly returns to full pressure.
When I disconnect the pressure hose from the wastegate, the boost pressure remains constant at approximately 1 bar from 2000 RPM onwards.
Is it possible to clean the wastegate somehow? Or can the pressure sensor be replaced individually?
Thank you!

Hi KK,
Okay, so our Audi 80 has had a loud whistling sound from the turbocharger for years (especially when it's cold). The car now has 280,000 km on the odometer, and it's still the original turbo (and it still has full power). Your last description sounds like overboosted turbo pressure. Check the hoses of the boost pressure control system in the area of the solenoid valve. There's a hose that's a likely candidate for wear and tear, which can lead to a sudden loss of power... we've seen this a lot in the forum.
Lucky you, you can easily access your wastegate, unlike my Passat. Just try moving the mechanism with a wrench. If it moves freely, I'd start looking for the problem elsewhere. ____________
Für Antworten danke ich Euch im Voraus. Gruß Christian

According to my information, a smaller turbocharger was installed in the B4 starting in 1994, which is supposed to provide more boost in the lower RPM range (although it's a strange logic, but that's what I heard). From 1994 onwards, the B4 TDI also had 202 Nm of torque instead of the previous 182 Nm (in combination with a different injection system, etc.).
Best regards, Wolfi.

Yes, it's possible that a different charger was installed starting in 1994.
At the top, I already asked if I can install the charger 028145701T in my 1993 Audi. This charger was only installed from 1994 onwards. However, unfortunately, I haven't received a meaningful answer yet.

According to the AKTE (record), the turbocharger has been replaced on model 8C-R-138800. You can compare this with your vehicle's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). This will tell you whether you have one of the older or newer B4-TDi engines.
I'm not sure if the turbos are simply interchangeable. In any case, the exhaust manifold, the turbo oil supply, the pressure sensor, and the intake hose all have different part numbers. The intake hose might also have a different part number because the older one had a mass airflow sensor, while the newer one has a mass airflow sensor. It's quite easy to check this on the part itself.
I have the old one. MfG faz
