Injection Timing: 17 Degrees BT - Is It Safe?

...definitely not, because I thought my exhaust was broken, that thing was making such a loud noise (engine code 1z).

I couldn't log any data because I was only using VDS_pro on an old laptop, but the target value was supposed to be around 3 degrees, while the actual reading consistently stayed at 16-17 volts.

Connected VAG-Com at home, checked channel 000, and initially fiddled with all the cables - and there it was! The 3-pin connector to the control valve/injector N108; the value displayed in table 2 is fluctuating between 0 and 255.

The main cable (pin 2) was damaged right at the connection point to the coupling. There's still some corroded cable about 3 cm behind the coupling!

It was repaired, and it worked again - All thanks to this forum! Thanks to everyone!

But... a strange side effect => my engine, which usually needs a lot of coaxing and 1-3 batteries to start, started perfectly (in other words: top-notch) with the defect?! I even tested it again - connected the cables - and it still started easily...
Disconnecting the cable - buzzzzzzz.
Has anyone ever experienced this before, or can someone explain it to me?

Isn't that already considered 'knocking' of the engine ?
