Hello, I'm new to the forum and already have a tricky problem.
The vehicle is a Passat manufactured in 1996 with engine type KB 1Z.
The following problem occurs: When the vehicle is heavily accelerated in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear.
He experiences rhythmic performance drops. It feels like being on a rodeo ride, but in slow motion.
Unfortunately, the error memory does not indicate any faults.
A test drive using the VAG pressure gauge for turbocharger testing revealed that, under the described conditions, the boost pressure fluctuated between 0.6 and 1.2 bar.
Before I start a major troubleshooting process, I hope someone here is familiar with this issue or has other advice.
Best regards, Holger.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'keywords:'
diesel filter
fuel supply
I'm sorry, I can't translate that without more context. 'lmm' could be an abbreviation or a code, and I need to know what it stands for in order to provide an accurate translation. Please provide more information about the text you want me to translate.
leaky charge air duct.
pressure relief valve for charging systems
Try feeding the search function with this text or proceed according to the 'wave-shaped acceleration' technical article.
A little bit of searching would have helped you in this case...

First, replace the diesel filter.
I had the same problem.
Especially in the 5th gear, completely on the accelerator (full throttle at speeds above 160 km/h).
It was delivering full power at a rate of seconds, and then...
Another small but noticeable drop in performance.
Replacing the diesel filter helped me immediately.
(it doesn't necessarily have to be like that with you; mine...)
It had approximately 150,000 kilometers on it and actually belonged to...
replaced every 30,000 miles (g***).

Thank you, Hollari.
I replaced the fuel filter first, but unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem.
Best regards, Holger.

Hello,
The problem you're describing is most likely the mass airflow sensor. I haven't checked what type of mass airflow sensor is installed in your '96 Passat yet, but is it a Pierburg or a Bosch HFM 5? If it's an HFM 5, you should consider replacing it – it's a very common sign of a faulty sensor. You can find replacements for around €80 (e.g., at any Bosch Service center; they should have one that you can quickly test). It's not something like the crankshaft sensor; the symptoms are completely different, trust me.
Best regards,
Rumpi

Hello,
or the mechanical turbocharger pressure control is stuck.
Best regards, Rainer.

@ Rumpi
If you're so knowledgeable that you can absolutely rule out the diesel filter as a cause, I find it surprising that you don't know that the 1Z engine only came with the Pierburg filter.
I'm usually more cautious with such categorical exclusions!
Faulty mass airflow sensors have rarely caused rhythmic acceleration drops in the past because they typically reduce the standard torque limit of 35.2 mg/H on the 1Z engine to a lower mass value.
I also believe it's not standard practice to simply receive a new LLM (Large Language Model) for testing. For example, Volkswagen only provides electrical components with an exclusion of the right of return!
Officially, at least. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.
