How can I find out if my MSG is up to date?

This is a Volkswagen Golf 4, 1.4 16V (engine code: APE).
Can I read the software version using VAG-COM? Is it possibly a 4-digit number? In my case, it would be 3014. How do I find out if there's an update available?
Since I'm not a regular customer, they always put up obstacles and want to charge 70 euros just for the inspection, which I think is excessive.

Yes, the software version is a four-digit number. Here's how you can find out if there's a newer version than 3014 for your ECU .

No, there are no real problems.

I would like to know if the number 3014 is a software version number, and if there is a newer version available.
