Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem. It's a Passat TDI, 96 kW AVF engine, manufactured in 2001, automatic transmission, with 150,000 km on the odometer.
A faint grinding noise (possibly from the front right?) when under load.
It disappears immediately when you take it off the gas.

I would appreciate any tips.

I would be concerned if it wasn't working properly, because then the turbo would be broken.


If the turbine wheel is actually rubbing against the housing, you're probably going to have the turbocharger fly off and hit you in the head soon.
You definitely mean a "pssssssssss" or a "pfffffffffffffff", right?
and that is normal.
