Hello everyone,

Is it necessary to use the diesel pre-heating via the return line of the ESP in a Golf 3 TDI 90 P / 1Z? I'm asking because I'm considering bridging the control valve to disable the pre-heating in order to use a different filter. Or does the TDI not function properly without the pre-heating? Has anyone already addressed this 'issue'?

Greetings

The Diesel warming is especially important for winter, as the diesel remains fluid and runs well even at arctic temperatures. So, I wouldn't give it up.

Hello WarLord,

I knew that. I only came to that conclusion because my older GTD also didn't have a pre-heating system, and I never had any problems with the diesel's flowability during the 10 years I owned the car. monopoel.de sells a filter head with a built-in return valve. Do you know about the FK and can you tell me something about its quality?

Hello,

My tractor also doesn't have a pre-heating filter, and so far it has successfully cleared snow every winter, even at -30°C. But the diesel filter has a much coarser mesh size than in a car.
It's just a matter of what you plan to do with your car. If you go skiing, it's -35°C, and your heating system breaks down due to your cost-cutting measures in the morning, you'll just have to suck it up.
Replacing the diesel filter every 30,000 km doesn't cost a fortune, and therefore, the other diesel filter won't be significantly cheaper.

Hello,

Thank you for the answers. They helped me form my opinion. I will stick with the existing setup and purchase the FK with integrated return valve from monopoel.de. Thank you again! icon_wink.gif
