Hi,

I drive a Mazda 2.0 DITD with a standard output of 90 horsepower, and I've installed an Alpin box.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to set it up.

When you unscrew the bottom cover of the box, you'll see two small yellow boxes, each with small black knobs (I think they're potentiometers). And to the right of those, there's a switch that can be set in three different positions.

I am grateful for any advice.

Hello Konjoy,

I think your Alpine is built the same way as the Speedbuster. You can adjust the performance and noise characteristics using the jumpers.

'All jumpers out, it's the smallest. All jumpers in, it's the largest.'

The jumpers are binary-coded, which means you can switch between 8 different levels using the jumpers.

From left to right, the number 1 indicates a jumper.

000 minimal
100
010
110
001
101
011
111. maximum.

Good luck playing.
Rainer.

Hi,

Thank you for the tip, I've now set it to 111, which is the maximum. It's now working great icon_biggrin.gif.
'It produces some black smoke when driven at full throttle, especially if you really push it. However, during normal driving, you don't notice anything. You can't see any black smoke from inside the car. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? The car is rarely driven aggressively; most of the time, it's driven slowly and carefully. So, it's not that bad if it produces a little black smoke at full load, right? Could the injection time become so long that it melts the pistons or causes other damage, or is the system designed to prevent that from happening?'

Hello,

I don't think anything will happen as long as you don't modify the catalytic converter. I'd like to do a long-term test. At first, everyone will think it won't work. But it depends on the light and the temperature. The exhaust itself isn't harmful to the car, only to the environment.

But I can imagine that the attitude towards something might influence its consumption.

See you later.

Rainer.
