Okay, okay, I know, 'We've heard this enough times before...' etc.

Okay, a simple question: I installed a 1z engine into a VW T3 van. The electrical system is okay, all cable connections are present, and VAG-COM works perfectly via the adapter - I just need to update it to the full version if I want to make any adjustments.

My search for the error code that was read from my device:
'17978 Engine Control Module Blocked by Immobilizer 35-10, intermittent.'
has also yielded some results.
However, it also makes me a little uneasy.

Is it correct for me to say that the aforementioned... Is the error not necessarily due to the WFS?

Perhaps someone can briefly and concisely tell me how to proceed with narrowing down the source of the error.
Can I have the VAG system deactivated at the workshop? I'm not going to replace my ignition switch anyway, as I only recently installed new locks.

Thank you in advance!

Or can I have the WFS deactivated at VAG

Forget it! Obtain a WFS (Wiring Function Simulator) that is compatible with the engine control unit (ECU), along with the necessary key and reading coil.
Connect, stick the key to the spool, pack everything well, and you're done.

Best regards, Rudi.

Hey Wurbel.

If you're not currently driving with the transponder in the key, as intended, how are you doing it?
You somehow have to get the engine started.

If you've created something like that, for example, "gluing a key to a spool," then it's possible that something might be loose or unstable.

Has your WFS ever turned the engine off before?

I don't know what the f*ck it was.
