Exhaust Manifold Gasket: Turbo to Cylinder Head

Hello, I just went to Seat to get some seals for my broken turbo. And the guy at the parts counter said that there is no gasket between the turbo and the exhaust manifold; it's supposed to be bolted directly together. I looked at the disassembled parts at home in my mess, and I didn't find a gasket either. However, it's possible that the old gasket is missing... Can anyone confirm that there is no gasket between them? I've already looked at the exhaust manifold to see if there are any marks, and there are, but I don't know if they're from the turbo or from the gasket. Unfortunately, I don't have the old turbo anymore, and the new one hasn't arrived yet.
Does anyone know more details?
