Yesterday, I replaced the rear brake pads and rotors on my Octavia. While doing so, I noticed that the pistons in the brake calipers are very difficult to move, compared to the front axle. There are repair kits for the calipers available online. Has anyone ever done this before, and where can I find an instruction manual for it? Or should I just avoid doing it altogether?

Hi!
Did you consider that when pressing the pistons, this must happen in a SIMULTANEOUS push-and-turn motion? This is due to the self-adjustment of the handbrake. You can't just press them (like in the front) .

Hi,
You can find instructions and links to further instructions at www.meckisforum.de, an Audi forum. The search function will provide plenty of results.
I don't want to offend you, but do you know that the rear pistons need to be rotated to insert them? Gruß Christian

'The jogging will be the problem.'
However, to my knowledge, there is a repair kit available, but it only contains the seals and the shaft seal.

I knew that the pistons had to be turned counterclockwise. I simply built a makeshift device with an 8mm screwdriver at the bottom, a short, flat piece of metal with two pointed ends acting as a driver, and a threaded piece of metal as a counter-holder against the flat piece. So, I turned and pressed simultaneously.
I had a problem before where, after releasing the parking brake when starting to drive, a loud grinding noise could be heard.

Hello,
Replacement sets for the rear brake calipers are available from our friendly local supplier.
Paid €11 three months ago. I would only ever do one page.
and disconnect the relevant brake hose to prevent...
that the storage container runs empty. This happened to me, and then...
It's quite difficult to bleed the system without a venting device.
I simulated the triggering of the ABS system using VAGCOM back then.
while bleeding the affected wheel.
