Hello everyone,

Does anyone know for sure what the exact differences are?
Is the diesel temperature sensor for engines with power outputs of 85 kW (AJM, Passat) and 96 kW the same?

(Possibly include part numbers & resistor values, and whether the components can be used even if they have different part numbers?)

Could it be that the diesel temperature sensor for the 96 kW engine has a different part number and allows for 'more fuel injection'? In other words, could it be that newer AJM engines are being 'detuned' in a cost-effective way due to this?

I know this topic has been discussed before, but according to 'Freundlicher,' the part that was posted somewhere on Ulf's thread (the one with the water temperature sensor instead of the diesel temperature sensor) doesn't quite fit my car. That's why I'm also not sure which sensor would be the right one for me.

Just to reiterate: During our AJM, quite a few things were adjusted via OBD icon_twisted.gif.

I suspect the sensor is the problem (I don't think a standard workshop test will reveal anything).
And while we're at it, we could just as well use a 'cheaper' one.

The background is immense, sporadic fluctuations in consumption that are correlated with the ambient temperature.

What do you think about it?

BTW:
Has anyone actually used pure vegetable oil (like the kind sold at Aldi and Lidl) in their car without any problems?
/ Experiences? (No biodiesel!)

So long new_tomato.gif.

Regards,
Thorsten

I recently installed a 3:5 blend in our ATJ (also the 115 HP PD, but with 310 Nm of torque). So far, no problems, and I've already driven about 500 km with it.

Best regards, WarLord.

Even though it's off-topic:

AWX, 96 kW. Approximately 7,000 km, 50:50 mix (gasoline and biodiesel), and last week in the hot weather, about 75% biodiesel. No noticeable deposits in the oil. And the AFN engine in the A4 has also successfully run on 100% biodiesel (although with modifications)!

I suspect that all PD models have the same diesel injector (038 906 081 B = NTC sensor in the housing with hose connection).

A factory-installed throttle restriction using a fake sensor would, in my opinion, be beneath the dignity of the developers.
Since virtually every engine has its own software, reducing power is most likely (and easiest) to achieve by modifying the torque map.
