Evening everyone,
'My Passat (AFN) experienced a loss of power after replacing the usual parts.'
'The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and turbocharger (with damaged guide vanes) were replaced. A used fuel injector was installed. While removing the fuel pump, I noticed that the lower control piston was stuck, so I installed a new fuel pump.'
Now, the pump can be adjusted using VAG-Com, but when the value is set to 2, it jumps to 38, and the engine starts to run unevenly and produce smoke. Otherwise, the value remains at 255. With the current setting, the engine runs smoothly, but as mentioned, it's outside the tolerance range (according to VAG-Com). The basic setting has been checked twice and is correct.
I would like to thank you in advance for your answers!

I would start by checking the NBF (Neutral Bus Fault). If it's needed, who guarantees its correct functionality?
Check the fuel system; there must be absolutely no air in the pump, otherwise you will have problems with the fuel injection timing.
Is it possible to rule out contamination? Even the smallest particles can block the sliding piston.
And of course, check all the cables and connections as usual.
CU Gremlin.

Hello Gremlin,
Okay, as I said, the pump is new, and the filter etc. were replaced along with it. When I disconnect the NBF (presumably a sensor or component), the value 2 also drops to 38. This thing is starting to stress me out; I used to have an Audi 200 T, and in the 8 years I owned it, I never had this kind of problem.
Not nearly as much money was invested in it as was invested in the Passat!!
Thank you for your quick response.

Hi,
In my opinion, it's pure coincidence if everything still works perfectly after replacing just one nozzle.
After replacing all the injectors in my car, I had to readjust the fuel injection timing.
If the nozzle with the NHG and the other nozzles now open differently, you will never be able to get them to work consistently together. Gruß Christian
