Hi,
If anyone of you has something like this (see picture), it would be great.
if he could somehow measure the top bar (or the distance between...
(the mounting holes in the car).
Background: I have one of those winding mechanisms from a 1997 Passat.
inherited it and would install it if possible.
Thank you very much.
Rudi.

Hmm, is this part from a Passat 3B? Because I have one at home and can confirm that the rod on top of it doesn't have a fixed length but is adjustable.
Best regards, WarLord.

Hey cool .
The ends can actually be inserted .
The isostatic rebound is therefore between 960 and 1025 (outer edge to outer edge).
Only the original dimensions of the G3 grid are missing.
Best regards, Rudi.

Why don't you just try it to see if it works?
Best regards, D., who is still too lazy to take out the grid for measuring.

Hi D.
Because I don't have the upper brackets installed yet.
I would really like to know if it might be a good fit.
Before I drill holes in the roof and install various reinforcing plates...
embedded.
If you have a grid like that, it would be great if you could check the spacing.
You could measure the distance between the holders. That should be enough for a rough estimate.
Maybe already.
Best regards, Rudi.

Thank you in advance!
I won't be able to get back to you until Sunday evening at the earliest.
Since I will be away this weekend.
Good night.
Rudi.

Good morning!
The length of the upper retractable rod is 87.5 cm when fully extended.
I hope I was able to help you with that.
Best regards, D.

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your support.
The length of the upper retractable rod is 87.5 cm when fully extended.
That would be approximately 8 cm less than with the pushed-together version (which contains coil springs; this is the resting position).
Passat grille (extended/deployed).
Is the rod extended far out when the grid is attached?
Best regards, Rudi.

No, it's not that big – I would estimate it to be about 5 centimeters.

Hmm...
So, it's going to be tight.
Let me see if I can possibly position the brackets lower.
If that's the case, I might have to rename it after installation – perhaps something like 'Shrek-Mobile.'
Best regards,
Rudi
