Hi everyone, my boss wants to install Trabold filters in our vehicle fleet.
Please provide arguments for or against them. Have you had any experience with these products? And what about the additives in the oil? Thank you in advance. - Klemmi |

Okay, when it comes to fine-grained filtering, I have no objections. In fact, I even support it. (However, 300 euros for a simple aluminum enclosure is quite expensive).
When it comes to saving money on oil changes, opinions are divided. You'll likely hear seven different opinions from just five people, and I'm also skeptical about it. Additives are consumed over time because they have to undergo organic and chemical processes.
At uni-filter, this is addressed by adding an additive mix during the oil change. However, for the same amount of money, I could also buy 4 liters of long-life oil.
Ultimately, an assessment of the oil condition can only be made through an oil analysis, and the economic viability depends on the costs associated with filter changes and any necessary additives.
conclusion:
fine filtering: definitely!
Save money on oil changes: determine the need through oil analysis!

You could possibly contact Autobild. They are currently conducting a long-term test with two Passat TDI models: one with a K&N filter and one without. I don't know how far along the test is. The preliminary report did not yet provide any meaningful information. |

Okay, I've had this air filter in for 30,000 kilometers.
Since the manufacturer lives in the neighboring town, I became aware of them.
After initial skepticism, I was convinced by the arguments in favor of it.
Whether it will work permanently remains to be seen (I plan to drive the IBI for at least 15 years/350,000 km).
For me, it would pay off after 4 years if I had continued to do the oil changes myself.
I will replace the oil and the original oil filter after 100,000 km.
When you rub motor oil between your fingers, it will feel noticeably "slicker" than new oil, and it's quite different from old oil.
I suspect that the additives will gradually break down over time and be replaced by tiny soot particles, which also act as additives.
The molecular chains will likely also break down over time, which is why the broth yields a result after 100,000 iterations.
There are a lot of people around here using those filters, and I haven't heard of anyone having any problems with them.
I will continue to update you on how my dog is doing.
and especially, how the filter performs compared to my chip tuning, which increased the horsepower from 100 to 140-145. |

Most engines can withstand a lot of abuse and still last for the first 80,000 to 100,000 kilometers. After that, you usually receive the bill, for example, if the engine has a wear level of 300,000 km or similar. A4 Limu 07/96 AHU@110PS 192tkm 08/05-05/08

Well, this topic is being discussed very controversially. A friend of mine works at T-Com, and they've also been equipping their local vehicle fleet with the Trabold filter for quite some time. No issues reported so far.
"I got this part for a very good price and installed it in my G4 at 60,000 km. I did the first oil change at 125,000 km because I was only using biodiesel at the time. It looked good. No metal shavings, no clumps, no visible polymerization, and even today there are no deposits under the valve cover, on the lifters, or on the water pump. So far, I'm driving it without any problems. The next oil change might be due around 200,000 km." I diligently change the filter every 15,000 km, and I use the original filter every other time.
Everyone must decide for themselves whether or not they dare to do it. If my system can handle 250,000 or more impressions without any issues, then I'll be convinced that the filter is working well!
