Hi.
My 1Z is making quite a bit of noise, especially when it's working harder (e.g., at 100% load). Also, the hydrostatic bearing can be pushed in by hand.
Having been completely thrilled that replacing the supposedly non-adjustable tie rod ends made such a difference (the creaking in the steering is gone, and it's more precise and quieter, which means there was play there all along), I'm now on the hunt for other worn-out parts.
If I want to replace the large (rear) hydraulic bushing of the engine mount:
- Can I leave the other two warehouses "as they are"?
- Do I need to lift the engine very high?
-> If so, how far (place a jack underneath).
I replaced the front hydraulic bearing on my G2-JP a few years ago, and it was quite straightforward.
Should I replace all three engine mounts at the same time?

I also replaced all of them every six months. You can get them all out with a small jack. Simply place the jack under the respective bearing under the engine/transmission and lift it until you can remove the bearing. The drive shafts don't need to be unscrewed for this. The hydraulic bearing on the transmission was the most difficult because it's hard to reach the screws.
However, I was disappointed with the result, because it didn't change anything about the noise level (even though the hydraulic coupling in the transmission was completely broken) .
By the way, only the gearbox bearing is a hydrostatic bearing. The other two are solid rubber/metal constructions.

Hi Jan,
That doesn't sound bad (I've been putting off the change for quite some time).
he's just hanging around ).
What kind of car were you working on when you did it that way?
Best regards, Rudi.

@ Jan03,
Recently, I replaced the front bearing on a 35i, specifically on a 16V gasoline engine (MKB AAA). It was definitely a hydraulic bearing. However, for cost reasons, we switched to a cheaper metal-rubber bearing.

@ Jan and Matthias
NO.
Jan: The only thing that isn't a hydraulic bearing is the one in the transmission (even the Golf2 85 had hydraulic bearings on the front!). Oops, I just saw that the one on the front of the G3 is supposed to be a rubber-metal bearing again???
Okay, so only the one in the lower right corner is a hydraulic component.

The rear engine mount (on the passenger side) is also made of rubber and metal. At least, that's what it is in my car. It's a fairly large piece and, as far as I remember, also the most expensive one.
@ Rudi: I forgot to mention what kind of car I have. It's a 1994 Golf III with a 1Z engine.

@ Jan.
Then maybe you didn't install the part from the TDI.
My "reliable source" refers to these additives as "rubber metal" specifically for gasoline engines.
For models 1Z, AFN, etc., the part is called a hydraulic accumulator (part number 1H0 199 262 L).
Should I double-check? Would you like me to provide the three part numbers again for verification?
m;
Okay, so here are all three bearings for the Golf 3 Variant, manufactured in May 1996:
Front: 1H0 199 609 J (Rubber-Metal 1Z AEY AFN)
HR: 1H0 199 262 L (Hydraulic lifter 1Z AFN)
HL: 3A0 199 402 (Rubber-Metal AAA 1Z AFN) Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

@Dieselmartin: I think we're already in agreement. Your list below states that...
HL: 3A0 199 402 (Rubber-Metal AAA 1Z AFN)
and that probably refers to standing in front of the car.
So, there are two rubber-metal components and one hydraulic accumulator inside. It just depends on the perspective, whether you see them as being in the front or the back }.

My directions are based on the direction of travel.
Okay, the HydroLager is located in front of the passenger seat... I'll take a picture.
20 - Hydro (it's on the right side, and it's large).
18 - GM (a very small part, located in the transmission).
6 - GM (surprisingly, at G2, it was a hydro!?!?!)

"What? That can't be right. Number 20 on your drawing is a rubber/metal bushing on my car, and it definitely doesn't have any silicone in it. That's what was originally installed, and that's what they sold me at the store as the correct part for my 1994 Golf 3 1.9 TDI. If you buy that part, you absolutely MUST take a picture of it so I can compare it!"

Hi Jan,
Here's my source, which might be wrong. Do the part numbers match?

By the way, these are the same parts that were installed in a 2001 Seat Ibiza 6K GP01 with a 110 hp ASV engine. (My colleague's car). Transparency, Teamwork
