Hello.

I recently became the owner of a 1995 A6 Avant with 140 horsepower (engine code: AEL), and I'm having a problem.

When I accelerate with full throttle from the lower RPM range (<1800 U/min) in the higher gears, the entire car starts to vibrate starting at around 1900 U/min. The vibration then disappears again above 2500 U/min. It probably occurs in all gears, but it is much more noticeable in the higher gears (4-6).
The car has 143,000 kilometers on the odometer, is NOT a Quattro, but it does have a chip installed.
I installed different chips today, but I'm still having the same problem.
The whole thing is also accompanied by a considerable cloud of soot, but getting rid of that wouldn't be my top priority right now. (Or could it possibly be related?)

Error memory is empty, boost start correctly configured.

Now you are being asked where these vibrations come from.

Best regards, Mario.

Hi Gottlike,

I also drive an AEL. I recently had a chip installed. With the tuning chips, when accelerating, it felt like the track was completely misaligned and the car was bouncing abruptly on the tire sidewalls... Almost everything is vibrating...
(However, the track was not misaligned. It was just an attempt to explain how it felt in my car.)
I haven't experienced this issue with the standard chips. You should try using the standard chips and then test it again.
Who knows what these "brut chips" are...?
Soot can have many causes. We'll start by testing the standard chips...

143,000 km for a car from '95... that's quite low mileage... how many previous owners has it had?

Regards,
Wool.

Hello Wool.

I would really like to try some genuine Chips sometime, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any. The only Chips I've been able to find are tuning Chips.
Do you have a Quattro?

I would be truly grateful for any help you can offer.

Okay, the Audi is in its third ownership. The mileage should be correct, and the service history booklet was also included. I've been searching for a decent car for about three-quarters of a year.

Best regards, Mario.

Hi, I also once bought some 'Brutalo' chips from eBay. With my car, a C4 Quattro sedan, it was the same – the whole car vibrated during acceleration, and it smoked like crazy. I ended up reinstalling the original parts. It felt safer for my car. Now everything is okay again!

Hi Mario,

I don't have a Quattro.
It's already frustrating that you only have tuning chips and no original parts. Of course, you don't have a TÜV approval certificate for the car anymore. As long as nothing happens, it's fine, but if something serious occurs, the insurance company might refuse to pay out... Please don't misunderstand me... I certainly am not a moralizer icon_twisted.gif... it's just a thought.
Where are you from?
Perhaps there's someone nearby who has a VAG-COM diagnostic tool and the same type of car. Then you could compare the control unit (ECU) number and, for testing purposes, temporarily swap the ECUs. Maybe then you'll understand more.

Regarding the mileage... if there's a service booklet, there should also be invoices from the businesses that performed the service. The mileage is usually listed on those invoices. Just give them a call and ask if you're interested. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, but I'm skeptical about this. However, I always hope to be wrong.
I also searched for my car for months and drove quite long distances to find it.
However, it's been four years already. And I don't regret anything!

@TDI-Quattro

Yep. It seems that the chips from the company "****" are often not very popular. I've heard this before, but only as rumors.
But your experience also points in that direction.
I also use the standard AEL setting on my bike. And it's not running *that* badly, really. Well... I'm more of a cruiser anyway.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening in that spirit.

Best regards,
Wool.

Remove the chip and the problem is solved. Alternatively, maintain the torque and avoid using the lower RPM range.

Nothing is definitely broken.

Best regards!

@TDI-Quattro

I've already read that this has happened frequently with the Quattro models, and your statement confirms it again. I'm now going to try to obtain original parts.

@Wolle

I live in the Wolfsburg/Braunschweig area. The idea of a cross-trade is certainly not bad, but someone needs to be willing to participate who drives an AEL vehicle. Having VAG-COM would be helpful, but I could manage that myself.
Regarding the mileage, I think it's achievable.

@Diesel_Rudi

Oh, I wish I could believe that. 'May God hear your words.' If anything happens to my car, it really bothers me, which is why I try to fix any problems as quickly as possible.

Best regards,
Mario

Hi,

"Just find your engine control unit (ECU) number and politely ask in a chip tuning forum if someone could burn the original data onto it for a small fee and send it to you. I don't think it should be a problem to obtain the original software."

Regards,
