Hello, today the speedometer on my Golf 4 stopped working. The needle is stuck at 0, and the trip meter and odometer are not working. Additionally, the fuel gauge is fluctuating wildly. Has anyone experienced the same problem? What could be broken?

"Hmmm, that sounds like it would cost at least 200 euros to fix, unless your instruments can be properly controlled and diagnosed using the actuator diagnostics!" Geht net, gibt´s net!!!

Power supply?
What does the error memory of the ECU (Engine Control Unit) say?

I would strongly suspect the speedometer sensor or its wiring.
'The fuel gauge damping' (as far as I know) only occurs when a speed signal is present.

What does the error memory of the AI say?
KI? What is that? I'll have the workshop check for any errors on Tuesday and ask them about it.

KI = Combination instrument... Because it doesn't just contain the speedometer. Gruß Bertil

I had the same problem.
All my analog gauges have stopped working.
However, this can be checked using actuator diagnostics.
Can only the instrument cluster be replaced?
I knew which controller was broken, but it's not available for purchase.

So, the workshop can't find any faults, the diagnostic tool connected to the instrument cluster isn't reporting any errors, and the sensor is working correctly. Now, the workshop wants to replace the entire instrument cluster as a test.
