Hello everyone,
Are there any sensible alternatives to a space heater currently available? I'm less concerned about the comfortable temperature inside the car, but rather about the engine's starting temperature.
Does anyone have experience with heat storage, or are these parts no longer available?
Thank you.

So, in the 5-series MBW model E-39, these things were available for a maximum of 2 years, and then they disappeared. Reason
1. These things often leaked, causing wet feet.
2. The switches, valves, and thermostats that were inside were very often faulty.
3. Doesn't help at all for short distances.
4. And so, the engines didn't get much warmer as a result.
5. The container will also only be lukewarm after 2 days. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

ad 1.
Not only wet feet, the salt (Barium Chloride ??), used in it, has over time corroded and eaten into the engine due to the container.
(that's what I heard)

As far as I know, a different type of salt is now being used.
There is also a short article in the Autobild magazine in the supplement.
Look.

Hello,
is indeed interesting! Could it be that the company is still stuck in the past? DM Prices
Does anyone have experience with these types of storage?
Greetings,

I invested 400 DM back then, and the Webasto is still working perfectly...
because I had to scrape ice, which still meant...
I only have the information that has already been posted:
short-term memory, not suitable for short distances ...
See you, Gremlin |

I called there once. They are still in business.
With the universal mounting kit, such a part costs 560 EUR.
I would like it because of the easier installation compared to a
"interested in"
The price is, of course, for what is offered quickly!
Let's see...
Thank you and best regards.

Additionally, there are stress fractures in the engine block, as hot coolant quickly passes through the (normally) very cold engine.
560€....an SH-installation is also not much more complicated and has significantly more practical value than this 'thermos flask'. |
