Vagcom303: No Connection to 1Z B4 - Troubleshooting

I have already used the search engine, but I only found results related to a baud rate of 240.
What does that mean? Is 'start baud' referring to the setting under options, which is specified as 0 there?

What other potential sources of error could there be? It worked immediately on the T4...

That's exactly what I was looking for, but you probably already tried that.
The remaining possible sources of error are the diagnostic adapter or the computer itself.
First, you should upgrade to the latest version of VAG-COM.

Since you probably have a 'simple' interface, if the above doesn't help, your only option is to upgrade to current hardware.

Year of manufacture: before 1994 or 1994 or later?

I updated the interface to version 2.4 according to the ULF specifications.
It doesn't work with my (age less than 94) using the 303 setting, but it does work with the 311.2 setting.
ABS also works with the 303 as well.
The baud rate must be set to 240.
Try using a different computer.

For my neighbor's B4 02.93, the following settings work perfectly with the 303-1:
Baud rate: 240.
Block-Int: 125
Character Limit: 3

The ABS and engine control unit are no problem in this case.

I only just read the settings now, as it was about the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Why don't you use the included VAG-COM version 4091?
If it's not working, something must have been assembled incorrectly.
