Hello everyone!
Who has extensive knowledge of the technical details of tax software?
I am specifically interested in knowing what distinguishes the following types of control units from each other:
038 906 018 A (SKU: AGR)
038 906 018 AN (Department: ALH)
038 906 018 AE (Manufacturer Code: ALH)
Who knows the details so thoroughly?
The biggest difference is definitely between the ...A and the ...AN or ...AE models, as the AGR version has a wastegate turbocharger (a different solenoid valve with a different internal resistance, and a different map for boost pressure control), a Pierburg mass airflow sensor, and does not yet have a shut-off valve.
The difference between the ...AN and ...AE versions would be more interesting. Both control units are intended for the ALH engine. What electrical changes were made to the sensors throughout the history of the ALH? Or is it simply a different software version?
Thank you for your insider information!
Regards,
Alex.
P.S. I might consider purchasing a ...AE engine control unit (ECU) and using it with a ...AN ECU on an ALH engine. AUDI A3 1.9 TDI, EZ 12/96, ursprüglich MKB AGR, umgebaut zum AHF mit GT1749V-Lader, verkauft mit 250tkm
Golf 4 1.9 TDI, EZ 1/98, MKB ALH, jetzt auch mit GT1749V-Lader, verkauft mit 300tkm
Touran 1.9 TDI, EZ 09/2004
Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI, EZ 03/2010

Why? Is it meant as a cheap backup in case of defects, or do you expect something specific from it?
Sorry, I don't know anything about your actual question... Gruß Ulf

@Ulf:
So, I would have expected a little more imagination from you .
In older control units, the EEPROMs are not yet socketed. If you have an inexpensive and independent control unit available as a test platform, you can solder in sockets and perform various software experiments (of course, away from public roads).
Replacing the engine control unit (ECU) is a quick process, and it's just as easy to revert back to the standard software (for legal road use) by reinstalling the original, untouched ECU.
Okay!
BTW: Does anyone know if it's physically possible to power the ALH engine control unit using the EGR wiring harness, or are we likely to encounter short circuits, blown sensors, or similar issues?

Hi.
So, the part number 038 906 018 A has been updated to 038 906 018 AH and is applicable for Audi A3 models with a chassis number up to 8L-V-150 00.
The part number 038 906 018 AN has been changed to 038 906 018 AE and is applicable for Golf/Bora models up to chassis number 1J-X-999 999.
Best regards,

Hi Alex,
They are all MSA15.7 models; therefore, they have the same processor core as the standard MSA15 models, but already feature...
split connector. These devices should be mutually compatible. However, it's not certain whether every...
The software version running on each control unit is not guaranteed to be consistent.
Best regards, Rudi.
