Hello everyone,
My brake warning light recently came on and has been constantly illuminated ever since.
The owner's manual states that the brake pads are worn out, or that there is a leak in the brake fluid system.
I thought the warning light was supposed to only flash briefly when something like that happens, not stay on constantly.
I haven't noticed any brake fluid leakage, and in my opinion, the brake pads still look quite thick.
Error memory is empty.
Thank you.
Regards,
Peter.

Hello,
'The brake warning light is constantly on. Did you only check the outer brake pads? It's important to check both inner pads, as the sensor is located there. If there's a lack of brake fluid, check the two rear brake calipers; the connection is almost always leaky on the A6 if fluid is missing.'
Best regards, Christian.

Hello,
No, I just glanced at the brake pads, only the outer ones.
Then the linings are probably worn out.
The brake lines are definitely leak-proof.
Thank you.
And Merry Christmas to everyone.
Regards,
Peter.

Hi!
I had a similar problem.
In my case, it was the brake pads themselves (when they wear down, there's a contact point in the pad that becomes conductive, allowing the onboard computer to detect that they are worn).
Best regards, Martin.

Hi!
I had the exact same problem. In my case, it was simply the cable that connects to the brake pad.
For inspection, simply turn the steering wheel fully to the right or left, depending on where you want to look (e.g., if you want to check the left side, turn the steering wheel fully to the right...). Behind the brake caliper, you will find a 3-pin connector, but only two of the pins are used.
If you want to test it, set your multimeter to 'continuity test' mode and measure between the two wires that come out of the brake caliper. If it's working correctly, the multimeter should beep (or indicate continuity in some other way).
Best regards,
Andi.
