VW MFD Rotary Knobs: Source & Buy Now

Hello,

Currently, a friend is experiencing an issue with their MFD (the first-generation color navigation system from the Golf IV and similar models) where the rubber coverings on both rotary knobs have detached and disintegrated.

Do you happen to know a contact address for that? I've been searching for an hour and haven't found anything!

They should cost around 4 euros each.

Really? These are for the older MFD 1? So, the double-DIN version from 1999 onwards? That would be amazing.

Do you happen to know a source for the electrical component of the rotary knob on the MFD 1?

Yesterday, I bought a Ford Galaxy (model year 2005, also a Sharan) with an RNS MFD system, and *after* the purchase, I noticed that the right rotary knob isn't working correctly. It jumps around erratically (for example, when entering destinations using letters). Sometimes the cursor moves in the opposite direction from which I'm turning the knob, sometimes it doesn't move at all, etc.

Online, I've only found repair offers starting from €130. I'm confident I can do the repair myself if I have the right replacement part, but currently, I'm missing that part.

It seems the issue has been resolved for now. I took the part out yesterday to record its dimensions and model number (Grayhill 629985-16 or 62AY22005).

I also tried blowing it (without much hope) and bent the cable a little.

Since the installation, it seems to be working again. I only entered the code number and an address, so a real long-term test is still pending, but I haven't gotten this far before.

I'm just going to say a quick prayer now, and I'll get back to you later.
