Hello everyone,
...after my new car has now been driven for 1,500 km, and I'm logically not satisfied with the performance (I'm used to the performance of my old, chipped Ibiza FR TDI with 130 hp).
'Yesterday, I was at one of the many OBD tuners.'
...here are my vehicle details.
Seat Leon Topsport TDI 130PS (only available in the Netherlands).
Unladen weight: 1367 kg.
Tire size: 225/45/17.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
I drove in 'V-Max' mode on the highway for the first time... it went up to 180 km/h relatively quickly... but it took *forever* to reach 200 km/h... and at 210 km/h, it definitely stopped... even going downhill... it was really disappointing!
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
..I arrived at the tuning shop... he, as always, connected his laptop, read and backed up the original software, then used specialized software to access the engine maps (12 maps, including turbo boost, particulate filter control, driver preference, fuel injection amount, etc.) and adjusted each one by a certain percentage, then flashed the entire configuration to my engine control unit... he cleared the error memory and it was DONE!!!
'The result was, of course, impressive. Unlike with the previous OBD tuning, the car doesn't have that extreme surge at 2000 RPM that forces you to constantly pray to the clutch. The power is nicely distributed, and it really pulls hard at higher RPMs. We drove back on the A46 (slightly downhill) with three people, and after a short time, we were reaching 230 km/h (according to the...' 'Speedometer' on it!!
...he really gets going full speed!
...DZR tests will follow, of course!
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
...which is actually my question:
'It's not something you can do yourself. Software with a dongle costs 2000 euros.'
'...I always thought that tuning software was developed on a dynamometer, which would take weeks of work (that's how tuners always advertise)... but it seems that's not really the case!' The guy seems to master everything in the software, and he knew exactly what needed to be changed and how. It could, of course, be years of experience.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
...what do you think about that? Ultimately, the result is what matters to me, which is clear, because I didn't pay much for the tuning... others pay up to 1000 euros.
The price-performance ratio is sensational.
Regards,
Monchi.

Hello,
As you can see here, you don't need any special knowledge, and you can still make money!
Every day, there's a 'fool' out there, you just have to find them!

Hello,

Could you tell us which tuner you were with? Does he have his own website, or does he advertise in other ways?

I've also come to the opinion that the advertised tuning, supposedly achieved through extensive dynamometer development, is just a marketing gimmick. I think most people are just doing basic tuning: a few percentage points here, a little more fuel injection there, and it works. Then, a few test drives to see if it works and is good to go.
You just need to know which data points to adjust and not overdo it.

Are you aware that with the next software update for the engine control unit at the workshop, either everything will be void, or your chipped software will be detected, which will completely void the warranty?!
...that's clear...my Seat dealer will, of course, be informed that they should NOT perform any software updates!!
...I'm also having the tuning registered and notifying my insurance company about it! ...Regarding the warranty...the 150 euros includes a free reversion to the original software. So, if my turbocharger or fuel injectors fail, or if I have a clutch problem, they'll reinstall the original software, and I'll take a copy of my old vehicle registration to the dealer and say, 'It's broken,' and ask them to repair it.
'My Seat dealer is quite accommodating and understands that German dealers need to be accepted when Germans buy their cars in the Netherlands... but they still make money from the inspections!'
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

And then people wonder about faulty hardware or strange power consumption
...I'm not sure if you can say that so generally... this isn't my first OBD tuning, and I've never had engine problems or issues with increased fuel consumption... so it doesn't seem difficult to properly tune a TDI... even without a lot of technical knowledge!!
...those are just my experiences!
just know which data points to use to apply the leverage and not to overdo it.
'I see it that way too!'

Monchi.

A 150 E OBD-Tuning with a TÜV approval certificate ?

That would be a declaration of price war against the established tuner companies... icon_eek.gif

...no, the TÜV inspection report costs an extra 150 euros, plus 40 euros for registration, and another 10 euros for changing the documents!
...a friend of mine was unhappy with his chip tuning and had his Ibiza TDI (ASZ) re-tuned by my tuner, and he was completely thrilled... he then posted about it on several forums, and the tuner even received a kind of threat about price dumping... therefore, Ulf's statement about a 'declaration of war' is not something to be taken lightly!
...the thing about the inspection reports is also a big scam... mine says 115 kW and a top speed of icon_smile_thumb_up.gif1 km/h... in reality, the actual power is much higher, and the tuners only stick to these limits because otherwise a special inspection would be required!!
...so, what if I have 115 kW registered for my car, I have an accident, and they test the actual power output of my car, which turns out to be 129 kW... that's way too high!
...is actually not correct!
...that's all very vague!
Regards,
Monchi.

It would be interesting to see what tools you can get for 2000 euros.
a) can flash the control units.
b) Correct the checksums of the modified files.

I already spent 2600 EUR for WinOLS and the three most important TDI checksums.
paid. The ACR flashing tool costs approximately 3000 EUR or more.

Best regards,
Rudi
