hello,

Is there a way to 'reprogram' the MFA?

Every time the ignition is turned on, my MFA (Multifunction Display) shows me the current time icon_rolleyes.gif. That's fine so far, but I would be happy if I could immediately see the oil temperature display as well.

Is there perhaps a way to avoid having to 'click through' all the options until the oil temperature is displayed?

Best regards,
Maik

Ibiza, model 6K, engine code AFN, 81 kW.

Hi there.

Without a counter module that "presses" the MFA button a certain number of times after the ignition is turned on, you won't have any chance.

Regarding the Volkswagen Golf 3, there are many reports of people who have damaged the instrument cluster by repeatedly activating the developer functions via the radio.

It then only displayed an error message.

I'm not quite understanding the connection between the 'MFA button press circuit' and the developer functions.
I had originally planned to evaluate and display the data from the original sensor that is installed, but unfortunately, I never got past determining the beta value of the NTC thermistor.

@Theresias

Developer functions? Isn't the oil temperature reading for the Golf III supposed to be in the standard display?

That was definitely the case with the Passat 35i.

Best regards, WarLord.

Developer functions? Isn't the oil temperature for the Golf III included in the normal display?

The oil temperature was already a feature in the Golf 3, but there were also developer functions available (e.g., a digital tachometer).

hello,

Even if it sounds ridiculous,
'What are 'developer features'?'
icon_redface.gif icon_redface.gif
Could you perhaps explain to me how to get it and what it is?
is this something like the climate codes in the A3, for example, or is it a point that I can read out with VAGCOM icon_question.gif

Unfortunately, the search icon_cry.gif yielded no results for the keyword }.

Best regards, Maik.

@Theresias

'So, I'll just ask directly, what do these developer features have to do with this question? *g* I'm already familiar with the features themselves.'

@Maik E.

Developer functions are the digital speed, a distance counter that counts the number of distance pulses, and things like that. They are a special level.

Can you read out your AI (artificial intelligence) using VAG-Com?

Best regards, WarLord.

'Developer function':

Turn the ignition on -> Press and hold the SET button on the MFA (Multi-Function Display) -> Turn the ignition off -> Turn the ignition on -> Start the engine -> Release the button.

It also works analogously with the 'reset' button of the mileage display.

To my knowledge, this only applies to the KI (instrument cluster) units of the Golf III 'generation,' and those are not capable of being diagnosed.

Can this "developer function" also be used to adjust the display of the outside temperature in the "normal" mode?

If I hold down the MFA button while turning the ignition on and off, I get fuel consumption, oil temperature, and outside temperature displayed, but only in this special mode. Is there a way to change that somehow?

Hello.
The oil temperature was already a feature in the Golf 3, but there were also developer functions there (e.g., digital tachometer).

If I follow DocSnydor's instructions, the only feature displayed is the current power consumption. Are there other ways to access the 'developer functions'?
I would actually like to know more about the digital tachometer that was mentioned icon_biggrin.gif.

Thank you in advance.

'SuFu' was tried, but unfortunately without success icon_sad.gif.
