Hello everyone,
I bought an AXR engine over the weekend, along with all its components (transmission, starter, air conditioning compressor, alternator, wiring harness, exhaust system, etc.).
With only just over 10,000 kilometers on the odometer, it's practically new.
I would now like to install the engine, along with its accessories, into my Golf 4 (originally equipped with a 90hp ALH engine and a DQY transmission, manufactured in 1998).
Has anyone done this conversion before and knows which other parts need to be replaced?
Engine control unit is clear. Does the exhaust need to be replaced? Can the necessary fuel pump be installed in the original fuel tank?
Does anyone have a suitable control unit?
Thank you for your responses.

Hello, I think that should be everything.
Immobilizer and combination instrument?
Does everything fit?
I also have a small problem. I installed a 2.5 TDI AKN engine (180 hp) into a B4 that originally had a 1Z engine (90 hp), but now the immobilizer isn't working. Do you have any idea what might be the issue?

Hi,
Conversion from VP to PD... have fun!
That's certainly not impossible, but it would be quite complex.
First, you need to check which type of waste heat system (WFS) your current Golf has. The Golf with the AXR engine already has WFS3. If there are already differences, then the conversion will be very difficult.
Fuel cooler... The PD (likely referring to a specific vehicle model) has a fuel cooler located under the passenger seat, and it's a must-have!
Pre-lift pump... if you can't or don't want to use the original fuel pump, an external pump will likely work as well.
Drivetrain... some PD models have stronger drive shafts (the AXR does too). These drive shafts definitely won't fit into the wheel hubs of the VD model. I can't tell you whether the VP drive shafts will fit the EUH. My gut feeling is: yes!
Everything else is just minor details, but those minor details can become incredibly expensive. Gruß Bertil

Thanks for the answers so far.
It sounds to me, at first glance, like the renovation wouldn't be worth it.
I just got the parts for cheap. You can sometimes get away with a little bit of compromise when you do that.
to take a risk.
It seems like no one has actually done that renovation yet, right?
If nothing else works, then we'll just replace the engine, transmission, and everything else.
individually re-glued. Then, I would probably have to replace it with another one.
ALH leaving.
If anyone has any other ideas, I would be very grateful.

What's your problem?
Mechanically, everything seems to fit. The fuel cooler isn't a problem, and the pre-pump can also be made to work. Regarding the drive shafts, I would simply measure whether the flanges are the same on both transmissions. Then the problem will likely disappear on its own.
Only the WFS could ruin your plans.

What does "billig" mean?
If you decide not to continue with your project, would you be looking to get rid of the parts? I'm interested. (Please reply via private message if possible.) Gruß Bertil

Hello.
Don't be discouraged by 'smaller' problems. After all, you're putting a Golf IV engine into a Golf IV, and there's always a solution!
I am currently working on a Golf 2 that is supposed to receive an ASZ engine and a 6-speed gearbox (a fun project).
Okay, the drive shafts will fit (the same transfer case is used for both EGR and EUH models). You can reuse the engine and transmission mounts. The fuel cooler (1J0 201 394A) and a new hose (1J0 130 307M) will cost approximately €170 plus VAT, and the rest you should already have or are minor items.
Why then waste the good parts again for a small price and have to do the same work at another ALH (okay, not exactly the same)?
So, don't give up just yet, because there are plenty of people here who can help you out of a tight spot.

Hello.
Before someone tells me, 'Those who can read have a clear advantage!'
I forgot to mention that the EGR is the successor to the DQY transmission, and the 'transfer case' assembly has been retained.
