What are the structural differences between Bosch and Pierburg mass airflow sensors?
If they claim that the error should not occur again.

Now, the mass airflow sensor from Pierburg for the TDI is available.
...back again! There used to be a company called Pierburg. My first mass airflow sensor (MAF) still provides readings of less than 850 mg/h, and that's after 215,000 km. Hopefully, it stays like that.

Obermeister

Hi Master Brewer,
You probably mean values > 850?
<850 is something every language model can achieve if you push it hard enough .
However, this is also dependent on the MSTG regulations. My 1Z engine also has the Pierburg system (which was the only option at the time), and there are no values exceeding 847.9 mg/H for that system.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

@ vagtuning
If I understood correctly back then, the difference lies...
on the surfaces of the HFM (Hot-Film Airflow Meter).
For the Bosch brand, the surface of the HFM is gold-vapor-deposited.
Pierburg ist eine Platinschicht drauf.
This should serve as a protective layer for the membrane, as platinum has a higher...
If a material has high strength, its lifespan should also be longer.
Whether this is still the case, or if other changes have occurred.
I don't know.

'Every language model can achieve a score of 850 if you give it enough hints.'
... sorry, I misspoke. Actually, my values are >900. I just checked again.

Hello,
Okay, here's the translation:

So, the rumor is actually true...
Hopefully, this will finally be a lasting solution... Does anyone know the costs associated with Volkswagen and the direct fix?

Hi,
That's correct.
My friend ordered some car accessories online today.
(Alhambra TDI 110 hp)
Price: €59 plus VAT.
The dealer also found the mass airflow sensor (MAF) listed in Pierburg's catalog.

I would find it interesting to see comparison logs, for example, of the MWB 008 sensor, comparing a working Bosch sensor with the Pierburg sensor, to see if the Pierburg actually delivers similar values.
I can easily imagine that Pierburg would be interested in being 'slightly' better under the same conditions, because they could assume that this information would spread quickly within the industry, and besides the price, it might provide the main argument for not using the 'original' mass airflow sensor.
Now it's time to wait and hope that someone takes the trouble .
Best regards,
Herwig.

Hi,
Now, the only question that remains is whether it's possible to simply install this device into the existing pipe without any problems.
According to my current information, VW only sells the parts as a set with the pipe because they are supposedly calibrated together.
That's also why we have that ridiculous 5-sided screw. Gruß

Hello Roger,
The pipe and its installation should be reproducible!
Ich könnte mir aber vorstellen, daß der 'Transport' mit Rohr sicherer ist.
Best regards,
Günther.

However, I could imagine that transporting it using a pipe would be safer.

Okay. In the PDF from Pierburg, as shown in Thorsten's post at the top, it states 'Probe without measuring tube.'
I can't quite understand what purpose this requirement serves. I'm pretty sure Bosch offers a version with a pipe, and I've seen it at the OEAMTC (Austrian Automobile Club), and that pipe shouldn't be too expensive.

Why should one replace the pipe and pay for it, especially since it doesn't wear out? What's the obstacle if you use screws with security bits instead of the Phillips head screws that secure the pipe to the air filter housing? You can also loosen the screw at the flange with a regular combination pliers, so you don't need to buy any tools just because you might have to open it every few years for two screws. There are no visible modifications to the pipe that would allow for 'tuning' to the mass airflow sensor (MAF), and such modifications wouldn't be practical in mass production. If desired, after the initial disassembly, you can also replace the security screws with Phillips head screws.

"Yes, I also installed a PD (positive displacement) blower from another manufacturer into my ALH (Audi A4/A6 with 1.9 TDI engine). It works great. Because the pipe of the PD is slightly different, I had to loosen those infamous safety screws. You wouldn't believe it at first, but they come loose easily if you grip them on the edge with a simple serrated pliers. Even if you only have a cheap Aldi mechanic's pliers handy."
PS: I'm also curious to see what values the new LLMs will produce. Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

Hello,
I would like to point out one more thing:
The replacement mass airflow sensor (MAF) from Pierburg requires a modification approval process because only a parts testing certificate is included.
The vehicle registration documents also need to be corrected.
However, this has been postponed until the next time the licensing authority reviews the vehicle documents.
The eBay seller that hame22 linked to also points out the parts certificate.
I hadn't looked at the link, so I ordered the LMM from a local parts supplier.
This is not meant to be an accusation.
I just want to point out the additional costs that arise when you want to comply with the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVZO).
Best regards,
Frank.

Best regards, Günther.
