Engine Stalling: Troubleshooting & Fixes

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my Audi A3 TDI 1.9. The engine is simply cutting out while driving (regardless of speed), and when I immediately try to start it, the glow plug light comes on.
The control light doesn't come on, but after about 2 minutes, it lights up again and the engine starts.
The error used to occur only every few days, but now it happens several times a day.
I haven't taken my car to the workshop yet to have the error codes read.
Could it perhaps be due to a relay?
