Identify Control Units: How-To Guide

Can someone tell me if I can replace the engine control unit with the VW part number '028 906 021 EK' with this one: VW part number '028 906 021 EJ'?

What are the differences?
The first number is from my car (a Seat Ibiza, manufactured in 1998, 1.9 liter TDI engine, AFN code).

EJ comes from an Inca and is an AHB motor - an SDI.
