As announced, I tested an oil additive with this fuel fill-up in my Audi 80 1.9 TDI 1Z.

'So far, I've had a consistently high fuel consumption (always around 8.5 liters). No matter how carefully I drove, it wouldn't go down. With this tank of fuel, I added about 0.2 liters of engine oil to the diesel. Despite the freezing winter and extremely short trips (my dad used my car for house calls), I was able to observe a reduction in fuel consumption to 7.9 liters (calculated after refueling).'

How can this be explained? In the previous thread, some people suggested that the lower losses might be due to reduced leakage.
Since adding oil isn't a long-term solution (and is bad for the ESP), I'm wondering how I can permanently detect and fix the leaks without using oil?

I did the same thing with my TDI and noticed the same thing!
I added 250ml of 2-stroke oil and, even with short trips, I had about half a liter less fuel consumption per 100 kilometers.

Why should this be harmful to the ESP?

Sure, here's the translation:

'MFG' is an abbreviation for 'Mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which translates to 'Sincerely' or 'Best regards' in English.

Hello everyone,

Is it really true that adding motor oil to diesel isn't that great of an idea?

Two-stroke oil burns cleaner, or at least it does nowadays. Therefore, this would probably work better as an addition.

I mentioned in the old thread that the consumption is about 0.5 liters less. So, it seems that some savings are indeed possible.

Is there another way to eliminate the oil leaks? I don't think it's cheap, certainly not.

I also did some more research on the 2-stroke oil from LM. And then, in another forum, someone made the statement that 2-stroke oil actually burns cleaner than diesel fuel.

Whether this is harmful to the cat... well, whether it's harmful to the environment... then no one should be allowed to deactivate the EGR system.

But everything I don't burn as diesel probably isn't that bad either. Where a discussion could certainly be started now, about whether or not something is the case.

I think there was also icon_wink.gif before.

Sure, here's the translation:

'Hello' or 'Greetings'

Werner.

hi,
I'm new here, but I've already read a lot!
Here's a brief introduction about me:
- 7 years of experience working on cars, with the corresponding technical understanding.
- vehicle: T4 TDI AJT (88 hp), with small LLK (liquid-liquid cooler) self-installed.
- occupation: IT technician (computer repair specialist)

Okay, let's get to the topic:
2-stroke oils have very different compositions!
"shell racing m" is made from castor oil, which can cause everything to stick together inside the engine.
carburetor (fuel injection pump), piston, piston rings, etc.
"Shell Racing X" is fully synthetic, so it should work.
"In my opinion, the best option is 'Castrol TTS' because it burns cleanly without producing smoke, and it leaves the engine, exhaust, and carburetor looking as if they've been thoroughly cleaned."
I've also added mixed gasoline to my diesel fuel before (when the tank was almost full).
I didn't feel any effect.
