Thank you, mullemaus icon_exclaim.gif.

To make it easier for you to identify the other MSG products:

The ...018 A part is for the Audi A3, engine code AGR, manufactured in 1997.
das ...018 AN part belongs to the Golf 4, engine code ALH, manufactured in 1998.
The ...018 BA part belongs to the Audi A3, engine code AHF, manufactured in 1998.
and the ...018 AJ part belongs to the Audi A3, engine code AHF, manufactured in 1997.

Perhaps this will help you determine the pin assignments for the other variations.

Regards,
Alex.

I used to have a little more time icon_redface.gif, but I can't help you with Audi A3 AGR and AHF models in that way. I put together the Golf ALH.

Take a look at the relevant wiring diagram.

You're welcome!

@all:

"Who knows what will happen if I install a newer MSG, which already has CAN functionality, into an 'older' environment?"

Specifically, I want to transplant an AHF-MSG module from a MJ98 vehicle into my A3 MJ97. While studying the wiring diagrams, I identified the CAN communication between the MSG and the ABS/EDS control unit as the biggest problem, as this communication does not exist in the MJ97.

"Can anyone tell me what happens when an MSG (Modular Sensor Gateway) desperately tries to establish a connection on the CAN bus but receives no response? The error log is clear, but I'm interested in whether this affects the "driveability" of the vehicle (e.g., limp mode, etc.)?"

Thank you for the helpful tips and information.

Regards,
Alex.

Besides that entry, nothing else happens. The TDi engine we converted is also a 97 model with the specifications from 05.99. It runs normally and without problems icon_smile.gif.

Hello mullemaus!

That sounds very promising and good icon_biggrin.gif.

Could you please provide some more detailed information about the renovation you carried out?

For example: donor and recipient vehicle types, engine codes, MSG part numbers, any modifications or alterations, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Alex.

Thank you, mullemaus icon_biggrin.gif.

You mentioned that you also replaced the electrical wiring. Were you able to use the "old" wiring harness, or did you replace it completely?

As far as I can tell from what I've seen so far, I should be able to manage without having to replace the wiring harness.

Alex.

The engine wiring harness was specifically for the engine. We reused everything else with the existing vehicle wiring harness. So, starting from the water reservoir, soldering was required.
