Hello!
I checked myself, and the belt has minimal cracks on the back. The teeth are okay. The engine is an AVF (130hp TDI PD in a Passat 3BG).
My mechanic negotiated a 50% discount for the exchange. However, this only applies to the belt and roller, not the water pump. I would have to pay the full price for the water pump (+ EUR 110). What do you think? Should I replace the water pump or just change the belt and roller?

Regarding the adjustment itself: I spoke to my mechanic about the somewhat imprecise adjustment of the freehub body (Ulf issue). However, he tried to tell me that it's simply not possible to adjust it any differently with cassette hubs, and that you can't really do anything wrong or misalign anything based on the adjustment tool. So, what's the truth? What do you think about that? Or does the perfect functioning of the cassette hub really depend on the 'skill' of the mechanic, meaning it either works perfectly or it doesn't? What tips (especially regarding...) can I give the mechanic, if there are any?

Thank you for your sympathy.

Greetings.

Okay, the WaPu (presumably a part) costs 43€ if you trade it in for your old AVF (presumably another part) from an A4. You don't really need to buy a brand new one for 110€.

Hello!

It might be because this is a complete water pump package price. That includes the pump itself and the coolant (2 liters). Of course, the pump alone (even if it's new) will cost less.
But generally... What do you think? 60,000 km (3 years). Should I replace the water pump just to be safe, to avoid issues related to the mileage of the belt, or are 60,000 km really a negligible distance for the water pump?

And please provide a statement about the belt replacement itself. Is it possible to do it with some...
'Mechanikereinsatz' – does it really allow for the 'perfect' installation, or is there truly no other way? With the VEP-TDI, things are different, but according to the master mechanic, with the PD, there should only be one correct position when you 'disconnect' it icon_rolleyes.gif.

Thank you to the professionals.

Greetings.

Search function rulez... icon_rolleyes.gif

YES, the water pump should always be replaced; the next time it's due for replacement will be at 150,000 km for you. Do you want to save the 43€ and take the risk?

A 1.5-liter bottle of G12+ concentrate costs approximately €6.50, and you will need 2.5 bottles to completely fill a radiator.
