Burn-out retarder on a single cylinder
Cause:
Ignition coil faulty
1. R4 2.0 l and V6 3.0 l - Engine

from chassis numbers

Ignition module with part number 06B 905 115 J, 06B 905 115 L, 06A 905 115 or 06A 905 115 A from production date 30/2002 onwards for the following chassis numbers

3. R4 2.0 FSI

Solution:
When the ignition coil is faulty, the combustion points are only stored on one cylinder.
Are the misfires stored on multiple cylinders, other causes for the error code entries could be responsible. (e.g. Incorrect air intake, camshaft adjustment, fuel system)
Exhaust gas emissions control systems can have many causes (e.g., (Fuel injector), but not always is the distributor ignition coil responsible for this.
