Hello,
With our new Ducato TDI, we would like to optimize the engine performance. 116 horsepower is a bit too low .
The intercooler hoses are very neatly routed in the engine compartment, but this results in excessively long paths. We now want to shorten the intercooler hoses (a total reduction of approximately 40-60 cm) and replace them with stainless steel tubing (the hoses will only be used for connecting).
Is this nonsense, or should we do it? I think we should get better responsiveness or faster LD (load distribution) build-up from it, right?
Best regards, Rodion.

But don't forget that if they run directly above the valve cover, they will automatically become slightly warmer. 94er VW Corrado 16V für die sonnigen Tage im Jahr. Mein Alltags-Fahrzeug:

Hello,
I don't think so, because the valve cover is made of plastic and sound-dampened. Now it runs directly next to the bare cylinder head and block. I think it's warmer there. But fundamentally, it's not wrong, is it?
Best regards, Rodion.

Not quite wrong, but if it were a VAG TDI, I would say "pointless in terms of performance."
It only slightly eases the workload for the turbocharger. However, since the turbocharger is essentially powered by "waste" energy from the exhaust gases, you wouldn't achieve a significant increase in engine power because the VAG TDI engine management system simply wouldn't allow it.
And I don't think a Fiat TDI would react fundamentally differently... Gruß Ulf

Hello,
'But our Fiat still has a mechanically controlled injection system, and electronics are a foreign concept to the engine, thankfully. I think it should definitely gain a little bit of power, or at least feel a bit more responsive from low RPM. It's not a typical passenger car diesel; it has 116 horsepower from a 2.5-liter engine. The VAG TDIs are already pretty much optimized to their maximum potential.'
But the hoses seem suspiciously soft. We'll try that out. V2A pipe isn't that expensive on eBay.
I will report back later.
Best regards, Rodion.

Hi,
I would classify this initiative as a "meaningless endeavor."
Anyway, you can't now say that we didn't warn you about a money-destroying action .
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
If the fuel injection is still mechanically controlled, then a targeted intervention there would have a much greater impact than replacing the intercooler pipes, and it would require far less effort.
Did you really mean "brand new" when you said "new" above, or just "new to you"? I wouldn't have thought it was possible to meet today's emission standards without electronic control...

Hello,
Adjust the ESP setting slightly so that the person following is still visible.
Everything else is a futile effort.
Best regards,
Christian.
