Hello,

VW has had variable service intervals for some time now. According to VW, these intervals can vary by up to 50,000 km. However, I've also heard from people whose oil changes were only 12-13,000 km apart.

How about you? / What about you?
Okay, please provide the German text you want me to translate into English. I will also include the vehicle type and distance traveled if that information is present in the text.

I have a Golf 4 with an engine power of 96 kW and currently 120,000 km on the odometer. My driving is mostly highway (60%), followed by country roads (20%) and city driving (20%). So far, I haven't needed to replace it, and there are no warning signs. Therefore, my replacement interval is at least 150,000 km.

colleague's car:

Passat Variant (2001), 1.8T engine, long-life service, 30,000 km interval.

driving profile: customer service field work, company car for lease icon_wink.gif.

First service at 18,000 km.

I have an Audi A6 Avant 1.9 TDI with 96 kW (AWX engine) and currently 8,000 km on the odometer.
When querying the remaining distance until the next service interval, it displays 11,000 km.
So far, the journey has consisted of approximately 50% highway, 40% rural roads, and the remaining 10% city streets.

I also checked the remaining mileage at 500 kilometers. At that time, it showed a remaining distance of 14,500 kilometers.

Question:
My father owns a Volkswagen Golf IV with a 1.9 TDI engine, 74 kW, which is tax-free, and supposedly has a long-life oil change interval of 50,000 km.
How can I check the remaining mileage until the next service here, like I do with my AUDI?

Thank you, D.

Hello D.

In my opinion, that is not possible.

Hi there,

My Golf 4 TDI with a 66kW ALH engine has now been driven for 32,000 km and hasn't required any maintenance yet. My colleagues' vehicles typically need servicing after around 40,000 km. All of these are service vehicles and are driven over 50,000 km per year.
Regards,
Eike.
