Hi,

Since the sun can be quite intense sometimes, I would like to get my windows tinted.
What type of film is best suited for this application?
It shouldn't necessarily look stylish or be reflective or opaque, but primarily it should keep the heat out.
Best regards, Roland.

Hello.

I would personally recommend "sl-llumar", preferably in Chromolux. It's not very dark, but it reflects light well from the outside. The film is relatively high quality and easy to work with. Before that, I had Foliatec, and I wasn't as impressed with it.

(Please don't assume anything - I have nothing to do with the company.)

Best regards!

Hi!

SL-Llumar is a good manufacturer, but unfortunately, it has become very expensive. Also, I don't like that the identification marking of the film is printed on it every few centimeters and visible from the outside.

I have window tint from Sun-Guard myself, it's black (35% tint), and the tint definitely makes the interior cooler; the black seats that are exposed to sunlight through the tint don't get noticeably hot anymore.
The film also offers excellent visibility in low-light conditions, but depending on the position of the sun, it is difficult to see inside the vehicle from the outside.
The foil marking should be applied in a way that it is clearly visible from the inside (with ABE approval), but not visible from the outside. This prevents any issues with vehicle inspections or regulations.

Foliatec is criticized by quite a few professionals, and Chromolux isn't really popular either, because the silvery look often turns into a light green due to mostly green tinted windows, which looks a bit strange. Silver films are no longer in fashion. icon_smile.gif

In my last T4 Multivan, I had the windows tinted with Foliatec Midnight Reflex. Thanks to good connections, the installation was free, and I was very satisfied with the film. It offered extreme heat and UV rejection (both >90%) and excellent scratch resistance.

Looking inside is practically impossible during the day, especially when the sun is shining. Conversely, there are limitations for outward visibility at night. However, this has never bothered me personally, as I, being a truck driver license holder, only drive in reverse using my mirrors anyway.

I wouldn't mind, but my wife isn't very comfortable with driving slowly and looking in the mirrors.
Ideally, you want the best possible heat and UV protection from the outside in, while also having the clearest possible view from the inside out.
Best regards, Roland.

Basically, reflective films are necessary because the principle is always the same; heat rejection through shading only works up to about 40%, at which point the film is already very dark. Heat reflection of over 90% can only be achieved with mirrored films, and those who understand this well will quickly realize: The higher the desired heat rejection, the darker the film must be, and ONLY a film that is both dark and reflective provides the highest efficiency.

Is there something that reflects light from the outside but is bright on the inside, like a diode in electronics?

Yes, there is. The one I described above (Chromolux), if you can live with the prints.

Whether silver is currently "in" or "out" also depends on personal taste and, above all, the color of the car.

How should one imagine the visible identification mark? Can it only be seen from a distance of 50 cm, or even from 3 meters away? And are the letters large or very small?

By the way, the car is red.
Roland.
P.S.:
Are there any comparative tests available anywhere that include transmission measurements, reflection measurements, etc.?

Hi,
I've just looked at some values for different films (from Sl Llumar).
'The aluminum-copper seems like the best option for my needs. It blocks 65% of total solar energy but allows 34% of visible light to pass through. The 'Black' version blocks even more (70%), but lets in significantly less visible light (5%).'
Perhaps it's because the copper color reflects infrared radiation better? I seem to recall something about why satellites are gold-plated on the side facing the sun, because that helps reflect infrared light...

Copper should also go well with a red car, right?
Roland.

Es gibt von Scotchtint / 3M sog. SunControlFilms.
Maybe this is something for you?
http://www.trim-line.com/deutschland/home/

Is it available in black, chrome, or other colors?
I've only had good experiences with my bus, especially with the BlackPanther model, regarding sunlight exposure.

It's important to carefully read and follow the installation instructions; then the installation will be quick and successful. And if you don't like them, the films can be easily removed. However, if the films stay in place for a long time, it becomes very difficult to remove the adhesive from the glass.

Does anyone know what he's good at? Or does anyone know what kind of activities he enjoys?
Please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will then give you only the translation, without any explanations.
