Hello,
Which throttle position sensor does the ARL engine use?
Based on the circuit diagram, it should be a potentiometer.
I once read somewhere that inductive sensors are also used in VAG engines.
Does anyone know anything about that?
Sure, no problem.
Best regards, Franz.

Are you perhaps confusing the potentiometer and inductive sensors used in the VP injection pumps?

Hi,
No, I mean the accelerator pedal.
Should there be gas pedals with inductive sensors or with potentiometer (resistance) sensors?
I need to know which of the ARLs is required.
Best regards, Franz.

I also can't tell you what's inside (according to the service manual, it's a potentiometer).
According to the AKTE documentation, it is the "electronic accelerator pedal module" with part number 6Q1 721 503 H.
Costs 53.90 EUR excluding VAT.
Sure, Maxx.

Okay, as far as I know, for the 1.9 TDI engines, the only sensors available for the pedal are potentiometer sensors. Gruß Ulf

Hello,
Actually, it has to be a potentiometer, because an inductive sensor only provides a signal when the sensor wheel is rotating.
Therefore, constant pedal positions would be indicated by a 'zero signal,' which makes the analysis too complicated.
AFAIK, two potentiometers that operate in opposite directions are always used on the pedal, which allows for quick identification of cable breaks or implausible signal issues.
Best regards, Jochen.

The RWG also gives a signal if the register slide is not moved .

Hmm... all the 1.9 TDI SLPs I've seen so far have a simple potentiometer with idle and kickdown contacts for plausibility checking. Gruß Ulf

Hello,
Here's something I found, but it's about a 2.0-liter TDI engine.
Enter this text into Google: g79 gaspedalstellung induktiv
Then, click on the second link, which is a PDF. On page 29, you can find an inductive sensor like that.
I'm hoping, or rather, I think it's not installed in the 1.9 version.
The problem is as follows: I'm experiencing something similar to what's described in the SLP.
connected the accelerator pedal sensor from the original 1Z/AHU engine to the ARL engine, but...
The control unit indicates that it is not functioning.
That's why I thought it might be one of the newer models.
Best regards, Franz.

Who says that "inductive" necessarily means "rotary encoder"? You can achieve the same result using other methods.

Who says that inductive means encoder wheel, you can do something else.
Hello,
'Classical' inductive pickups are passive components that generate their output voltage based on a changing magnetic field.
If I'm using an 'active' component that utilizes a generated base alternating field, it is perfectly functional.
However, I did not use active inductive modules, but rather a classic inductive sensor .
So, it seems we've been describing different things.
Hm... all the 1.9 TDI-SLP units I've seen so far have a single potentiometer with idle and kickdown contacts for plausibility checking.
Please don't fix this now, as I don't currently have access to SSP 210.
Possibly, I may have confused it with a different manufacturer.
Best regards, Jochen.

Can the electrical design be fixed to the mechanical structure?
Gas pedal pressed = Potentiometer.
Gas pedal held down (as shown in the PDF) = Inductive.

Hello,
It appears that the gas sensor from ARL is also a potentiometer.
The one installed is the 1Z/AHU version.
I'd really like to avoid replacing this sensor, because the new one is a...
and has a different design and wouldn't necessarily fit.
Does anyone know if the resistance values have changed?
from the old design to the new design?
Best regards, Franz.
