Hi.

Photo).

Okay, here's the translation:

Now, my questions:

The colleague from the workshop said that without "tongue and groove," it's not possible to properly adjust the position of the NW (negative wheel) and ESP (electronic stability program) relative to the crankshaft.
Meiner Meinung nach spielt das doch keine Rolle. Who is right?

If there are no objections, I would like to have the shaft ground flat and a new timing pulley installed.

What will the action approximately cost me? (I would only want the most necessary things to be done - the timing belt, etc., are still almost new). Probably, the TÜV inspection will reject the car in the fall icon_sad.gif.

Can anyone recommend a good workshop in the Dortmund area?

P.S.: A little background information about this: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=16548

Thank you.
until the days pass.

hello,
Your workshop buddy is right. Without a proper, secure connection between the crankshaft and the timing pulley, you can forget about the adjustment. And even if you manage to get it right, it will likely come loose again. As you already mentioned, a new timing pulley needs to be installed, and the crankshaft journal needs to be precision-ground flat.
Insert the new screw and tighten it to 90 Nm + 90 degrees. And VERY IMPORTANTLY!! The threads and the contact surfaces MUST be free of oil and grease! Otherwise, the preload will eventually disappear, and you'll end up with something like what you're experiencing now (this is just a guess).
Best regards,

Hey Querstromkopf,

Thank you for your response.

If I understand the forum posts correctly, the tight fit between the front surface of the crankshaft and the timing pulley is sufficient. Of course, this only works with a flat contact surface and the screw properly tightened.

The groove in the crankshaft won't be restored by the milling process. Therefore, my colleague suggested that I might need a new crankshaft.
I don't understand that, because I should be able to adjust the NW (narrowband) and ESP (electronic stability program) independently of the KW (adjustable coilover) position.

Thank you.

Hi.
The valve timing is adjustable; you can adjust the camshaft and fuel pump.
Best regards,
Dirk

Get the tools to grind down the crankshaft, and get a new screw and a new timing pulley (costs around 25 euros). Clean everything thoroughly with compressed air and brake cleaner, then apply red Loctite to the new screw. This should last for about 30,000 km if the groove in the crankshaft is almost completely worn out.

Okay, I'll try to borrow the tool.

Thank you.
