Hi,

I couldn't resist, and I connected my self-made Opto Interface to my BMR (hopefully, Rainer's CAN version will be available soon icon_wink.gif).

UI, that's what it was. Everything is much faster than on the MSA12 or MSA15.
I wanted to "look at big numbers" and I checked the boost pressure. It wasn't that simple, because 5 samples per second were flashing by. But I saw a 2500 icon_smile.gif. At an outside pressure of 960 mbar.
Unfortunately, my laptop can only run for 20 minutes without being plugged into a power source. Otherwise, I would have been able to record something while driving on the highway today.

I was annoyed by fields that contained values like 1024 Nm or 300 km/h.
I believe that, despite the Sportline (lower, harder, wider), I might be afraid of one of these values icon_smile.gif.

Looking forward to the CAN KKL interface, which is even faster...

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Okay, I've noticed that with EDC16 engine control units, the K-line is faster than the diagnostic CAN bus.

You can even switch to "turbo mode," which is faster than the diagnostic CAN bus, even on the K-line.

Regards,
Malte.

Hello,

interesting: On which vehicle was that?
Actually, it's not really possible because:

K-Line, normal baud rate: 9.6 kbps.
CAN diagnostic interface for VAG vehicles: 500 kBd.

Therefore, as long as the control units do not artificially restrict the diagnosis, the communication via CAN is significantly faster.
So, just as Martin described.

I have experienced this issue with the Audi C6 (PQ 46) and the PQ35 models.

Best regards, Jochen.

It was an Audi A3 8P. I can't remember the exact frame rate via the K-line connection, but it was "very smooth."

Over CAN, the maximum frame rate in turbo mode was 10 frames per second.

With a data rate of 500 kbaud, the question is what the diagnostic interface (J533) makes of it. Or, it might have been due to my laptop (Pentium II 233).

Regards,
Malte.

Be careful:

"500 kBd is the bus data rate, which all control units must share. Diagnostic requests have the lowest priority and are processed "when time allows." This can sometimes be slower than the K-line."

No, you don't have to be careful about that.

The bus load on the drive-related CAN bus is below 27%. Anything above 30% is considered too high, as it could potentially cause systems like ABS and ASR to experience delays. Therefore, this threshold is not exceeded in practice.
The diagnostic request is located in the area > ID 700h. This also appears frequently enough through the filtering process.

Therefore, there is enough time to quickly send the diagnostic data.

Therefore, the following applies:
Therefore, as long as the control units do not artificially slow down the diagnosis, the communication via CAN is significantly faster.

As I mentioned above.

Best regards, Jochen.
