Passat B5: Service Reset Instructions

I have a question: I purchased the professional diagnostic system from your online store.
So far, it's working great.
However, I'm wondering if it's possible, and if so, how this part can be used to reset the service interval display in a Passat 5B.

I have also implemented the technical article, but I still have questions about the approach and a suggestion for expanding the article.
I have paused the service on channel 2.
After that, follow the VAG-COM suggestion (an explanation window will open).
Channel 42, which is not mentioned in the article or listed in the table (!).
Here, I can enter the minimum kilometer distance to the next service interval in increments of 1,000 km: for example, 15,000 km.
Channel 43: Maximum distance, e.g., 50,000 km.
Channel 44: Maximum duration: 730 days.
Channel 45: Oil quality: 4 = Low.
after that, I could (according to VAG-COM) go into...
Channel 40, "distance from inspection," in increments of 100 km.
Enter the "distance from inspection" in days in field 41.
Due to a lack of knowledge, I didn't change anything there.
What do these values mean? Do I need to enter anything if I reset the service settings from x km or y days after the actual service (hence from, and not }until/to})? Or can I precisely define when the next service should be, i.e., specify a fixed interval?
