Hello,

Today, I installed a GRA (Gearbox Rear Axle) in my Passat (year 2000; engine code: AKN). It was an original retrofit kit from VW. I installed and connected everything as described in the included manual. It was unlocked using code 11463. However, this thing just won't work. According to the manual (code GOOOSG), the control unit shows that it is unlocked, and according to measurement block 6, all functions are being switched correctly on the switch, with "0" and "1" as they should be, including the clutch and brake. So, I hope the switch is okay and properly connected. I have tried unlocking it multiple times because I read in the forum that it sometimes doesn't work the first time. Nothing is working! No warning lights are coming on, and it's not functioning. Now I'm completely at a loss and hope you can help me.

Best regards,

Hello,

Okay, I wouldn't look for the error in the control unit if the corresponding diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is correct. Control units are digital; it's either a 0 or a 1, it either works or it doesn't.

I once installed something similar in a Passat, and I found it incredibly fiddly to insert and locate the individual pins in the water tank.

Therefore, the question is: are you sure you haven't mixed anything up, made a mistake in your calculations, been misled, or done something wrong?

If it's different from how I remember it being installed, like for example with the AFN fuel pump in a Golf, where it just snaps together, then I don't have any other ideas.

Greetings.

Routing the wiring harness was a real pain, and I double-checked everything after I plugged the pins into the connectors, keeping in mind that correcting any mistakes would be a huge hassle. I'm pretty sure I didn't mix anything up.

Okay, so...

It works now, icon_biggrin.gif.
OdeSure.

Greetings.

With a different engine control unit, and possibly a more recent software version for the control unit. icon_wink.gif Cumbersome, expensive, nonsense. icon_lol.gif icon_wink.gif

The light fixture is pointless anyway.

It lights up when the GRA *can* be activated, not when it *is* activated.

What kind of brake lights are those that light up when you *can* brake?

With the 3C, VW enthusiasts noticed that it can be interesting to see if the GRA (presumably a sensor or system) is actually working, as it indicates its status. The Golf 3, on the other hand, doesn't show anything at all, only regulates – no indication.

Greetings.
